He was born in Oakland City, on June 9, 1958 to the late Jackie and Virginia Deen. He is survived by his sis- ters, Robin McQueen (Keith) and Julie Hedrick; a nephew and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie Lee and Virginia Ann (Masters) Deen. Friends may send a condo- lence to the family at www. LambBasham.com BET TY ELLEN GREEN On June 23, 2022, Betty El- len Green, loving mother and grandmother, passed away in her home at the age of 96. Betty was born June 29. 1925 in Edwardsport, to George and Pauline (Morris) Jones. On November 8, 1942, Bet- ty married Laddie Green, and they had six children. Betty was a homemaker, dedicat- ed mother, and the coolest grandma ever. She was a vo- racious reader, prolific cross- word puzzle enthusiast, and an amazing cook, however what she most enjoyed was her family, and to her every- one was family. Sunday din- ners were a must, and when she was no longer able to cook, she would spend Sun- days supervising her daugh- ter and granddaughter while they cooked her recipes. Bet- ty was known far and wide for her compassion, grace, quick wit, incredible sense of hu- mor, and homemade noodles. Betty will be greatly missed by her surviving family: chil- dren Sally Pratt, Mike Green, Mark (Rhonda) Green, Julie Green, and son-in-law Ben- ny McElvain; her grandchil- dren Dan (Selena) McElvain, Doug (Sarah) Pratt, Mendy McElvain Mason, Charles (Molly) McElvain, Erin Ellen Pratt (Tom Mulcahy), Zach- ary Green, Cassie Green, Marissa Ashby (Maciej Katafiez), and Christopher Ashby; eight great-grandchil- dren, and several great-great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband Laddie, daughter Sandy McElvain, son Patrick Green, brothers Bob Jones and Gary Jones, and sister Carolyn Jones. She was born January 19, 1949 to the late Oril Bill and Mary Lou (Brock) Dent. She was married 55 years to Henry Miley. She was a beautician for 50 years and drove a school bus for the Pike County School Corp for 30 years. She also worked in the school cafeteria. She is survived by her hus- band, Henry Miley; daugh- ters, Danyella (Robert) Prilika and Cindy (Lamb) Mills; sons, Joseph Miley, BJ (Gina) Smith, and Tyler Smith; grandchildren, Tate and Camden Smith and Ma- rie Prilika; brothers, Greg Dent and Buckwheat (Bun- nie) Dent; and sister, Bonita (Randy) Smith. He was born January 27, 1940 to A J and Hazel (Love- less) Miller in Petersburg. He worked for many years as a coal miner at Old Ben II He is survived by his sons, Larry (Brenda) Miller, Terry (Sheryl) Miller, Jody (Kim Ray) Miller, and Tracy (Pat- ty) Lauderdale; daughter, Pam ( Jeff ) Phillips; sister, Joan Willis; eight grandchil- dren; and several great grand- children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Miller; his parents; and his brother, Homer Miller. Services will take place at 1 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 29, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Pastor Elaine Young will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. EDT until service time. MARJORIE JOAN OVERTON SODERLING Marjorie Joan Overton Soderling, 85, devoted wife and mother, left Amber Manor Health Care on June 21, 2022 to dance the Golden Streets of Heaven with her husband Lowell Kent Soderling, whom she married on June 20, 1959. She was born in Stewarts - ville, on Nov. 15, 1936, to her parents, the late James Over- ton and Anna Laura (Over- ton) Carney. She was lovingly known as "Momma Jo," was a devoted housewife, mother and grand- mother. She was also a care- giver of the elderly, whom she referred to as "The World's Greatest Jewels." She is survived by her daughters Beth Soderling, of Winslow, Tracy Soder- ling, of Evansville and son Scott (Amber) Soderling, of Vincennes. She also had the joy of her grandsons Shaun (Kaycie) Soderling, of Evans- ville and Jordan and Jonathan Soderling, of Vincennes, great-granddaughter Quinn Soderling and great-grandson Duke Soderling, of Evansville, and sisters Linda (Sam) Neff, of Oxford, Pa., Diana Sue ( Jim) Nelligan, Lynn (Char- lie) Jochim and brother Bill Carney (all of Evansville), along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Betty Mae. Bell, age 44, of Winslow, Indiana, passed away at 4:48 a.m. on Thurs- day, June 23, 2022, in Memo- rial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana. He was born in Jasper, In- diana, on February 9, 1978, to Steven Sr. and Cindy (Smith) Bell. He was a graduate of Pike Central High School and worked for Vuteq for 18 years. He was a volunteer fireman for the Winslow Fire Depart- ment. He loved fishing, camp- ing, bonfires, shooting and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his father, Steven Bell Sr., of Winslow, one brother, Steven II (Ton- ja) Bell, of Birdseye, and one sister, Shalynn (Brandon) Miller, of Winslow, six nieces, Kayla, Akiayia, Madelyn, Myl- ee, Brixsen and Amber; one nephew, Maddix and one great nephew, Everett; two great nieces, Alyla, and Arabella. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner. com. SAUNDR A JANE WINSTED Saundra Jane Winsted, 78, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 20, 2022. Saundra was born January 23, 1944 in Winslow, Indiana. She married her high school sweetheart, Russell L. Campbell, on September 1, 1961. A fter Russ finished college at Oakland City, they moved to numerous towns throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Minnesota. They di - vorced several years later, and subsequently, she remarried Donald W. Hockett, a career army soldier. She spent many years living in different states and overseas. During her working years, she held many different jobs including office work at grocery, retail, and a court house. Additionally, she was a state prison correctional officer, loss prevention officer, librarian, mess hall service worker, cab dispatcher and driver, and tole art painter. She was happiest being a mother, wife, and grand - mother. She divorced again in 2012 and moved in with her daughter's family. Although she attended churches prac- tically everywhere she lived, she always considered Ayr- shire Valley General Baptist Church her home church, where her parents were very active. She was an avid read- er, talented artist, and skilled flower gardener. She is survived by her daughter, Robin ( Jim) White, daughter-in-law, Angela (Pat) McCall; grandchildren Amy (Les) Smith, Brian Camp- bell, Shelby (Brandon) Phil- lips, and Lindsey White; great-grandchild, Tori Smith; sister-in-law, Bonnie Winsted (Spike Fitzgerald), three niec- es, Marla (Mike) Woolsey, Melanie Winsted, Melynda (Bob) Waggoner; and several great-nephews, extended fam- ily and friends. She reunites in Heaven with precious loved ones who have gone before her, parents, Charles Lloyd "Pete" and Pearl O. (Hurt) Winsted, her brother, Charles Earl Winst- ed, and her son, Russell "Kel- ly" Campbell. Lamey, 84, of Winslow, IN passed peace- fully at home with his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon (Mc- Clure) by his side on Friday, June 24 2022. Jim is survived by two sons, Bradley (Teresa) Lamey of Velpen, IN and Brent (Tina) Lamey of Haubstadt, IN. Grandchildren: Cort (Ol- ivia) Lamey, Blair (Madi- son) Lamey, Reece (Briley) Lamey, Caden Lamey, Quinn Lamey and Paxton Lamey. Great-grandchildren: Stella Lamey, Atalissa and Mag- dalen Lamey. Two surviving brothers are Melvin (Phyllis) Lamey of Winslow and Tom (Louise) Lamey of Evans- ville, plus his sister-in-law, Donna Lamey of Fort Branch. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lorina (Sensmeier) Lamey and his brother, Larry Lamey of Fort Branch. Jim graduated from Haub- stadt High School in 1957, attended the University of Evansville for a year and then graduated from Oakland City College in 1961 with a Bach- elor of Biological Science and PE Degrees. His first job was at Monroe City, IN from 1961-1968 teaching sixth grade and coaching JV bas- ketball. In 1969, Jim moved to Pike County and taught at Winslow Elementary and lat- er at Pike Central retiring in 1996. Jim's first love was interact- ing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren un- til his death. Jim served in the Army National Guard. He was also involved in many community activities, such as a Founding member of the Pike County Tractor Group established in 2008; Founding member of the Pa- toka Township Lions Club beginning in 1981. He was a member of Haubstadt Histor- ical Society from 1996 -2014 and a member of the Pike County Genealogy Society and the Pike County Histori- cal Society for several years, plus was Founder of the Babe Ruth League for Pike County youth. Jim was a lifetime member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt. Jim thoroughly enjoyed interact- ing with family & friends and anytime he met a stranger, he parted as a friend. A Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. CST Tuesday, June 28 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Haub- stadt. Viewing was from 8 a.m. CST until Mass time at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28 at the church with burial following in the church cemetery with military rites. There was a luncheon fol- lowing at the Knights of St. John Hall in Haubstadt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter & Paul, the family's fund of choice. Arrangements are being handled by Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt. Online condolences may be made at wadefhinc.com. LYDIA BELLE MILLARD Lydia Belle Millard, 88, of Pike Co. Ind. passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Evans- ville, Ind. on June 24, 2022. She was born December 17, 1933 in Jasonville, Ind. in Green County to the late James Burton Houpt and Mary Pha (McAtee) Houpt. They moved to Otwell in 1936. She graduated from Ot- well High School in 1951 (Go Millers), upon graduation she attended Linotype school in English. She went to work at Winslow Dispatch in 1952 and worked there off and on until 1968. She also worked at the Parker's Drug Store in Winslow, Pike Co. EMS, Stone and Webster Construc- tion as EMT. She was a CNA at Jasper Hospital and she loved teaching CPR at several schools and organizations in Southern Indiana for the Red Cross. She married Ernest George Grimes June 23, 1954. They started a restaurant in Oak- land City shortly after mar- riage. In 1958 they moved to Spurgeon; there they opened a new restaurant called the Car- dinal, named after the Spur- geon High School Cardinals. Ernest passed away May 9, 1962 from cancer. She remar- ried on April 23, 1975 to Pete Winland. He passed away December 16, 1980 from sur- gery. She remarried again on March 2, 1998 to Jack Mil- lard. They moved to Houston where he passed away on Oc- tober 30, 1998 from a heart attack. She joined Winslow East- ern Star #391 in 1955. She served as Worthy Matron, District Deputy and was Past Grand Representative to New Hampshire. She was a member of Otwell, Winslow and Spurgeon Methodist Churches and a member of the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and the UMW, and also a Sunday school teacher, which she en- joyed very much. She is survived by sons, Larry (Shannon) Grimes, Paul (Betty) Grimes; grand- sons, Gregory (Brianne) Grimes and Thomas (Kelly) Julian. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends and family. She was proceeded in death by her three husbands; her father and mother, James Burton Houpt and Mary Pha (McAtee) Houpt; sisters, Mary Ann Dickson (Gettis), Nila Lou Hart and Emma Mae Reichenback (Rick). The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Vincent Hospital and all the staff. HARVEY CALLAHAN Harvey Callahan, 89, of Union, passed away Wednes- day, June 22, 2022, at Amber Manor in Petersburg. He was born on September 11, 1932 in Odon to Roy and Audry (Ash) Callahan. He retired from the City of Washington Sanitation De- partment. He attended Union Community Church, served on Civil Defense, and spent 15 years with the Union Vol- unteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Doris Callahan; nephews Roger and Britton English, Clint Clore, Jeff Sweppy, and John, Jason, Josh, Scott, and Brian Col- lins; nieces Michele Cardinal and Andra DeHaven; and sev- eral great nieces and neph- ews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and niece Krista Storey. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at O.D. Swain, 92, Koko- mo, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2022. He was born on November 16, 1929, to the late Herman and Edith (Gilliland) Swain. On July 19, 1952, he married Barbara Joan Leighty, who preceded him in death on April 1, 2001. He grew up in Petersburg, and worked for Pepsi Cola and Amax Coal Mine and retired in 1991. He loved his family and playing country/ bluegrass and gospel music. He was the Senior Indiana and Kentucky State Fiddle Champion. He loved and faithfully served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and en- joyed serving at In His Image Church. He is survived by his son, Bradley Swain and daughter- in-law Sheila Swain; grand- children Steven Swain, Brian and Cyndee Hale and Alicia Swain; and great-grandchil- dren McKynzee and Karina Hale. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alan Swain, and his brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, at In His Image Church, 2940 E. 50 N, Kokomo, with Pastor Brad Swain officiating.
