EVERYONE IN YOUR HOME CAN BENEFIT! Hot weather is dangerous for older adults and any- one with heart disease, diabetes, or a history of stroke. It's espcially dangerous when there's not an adequate cooling system in the home. As in years past, the Council on Aging/Neal Center will again be giving away a limited number of electric box fans during the summer months. TO QUALIFY FOR A BOX FAN: • Applicants must be a Cleveland County resident, age 60 and over, or 18 and older and disabled. • Have no air conditioning in their home • Have a home situation where a threat to health exists If you fit these qualifications, please call the Council on Aging/Neal Center at 704/482-3488. Pick-up is by appointment only. It's about vacation time…… but the need for food NEVER takes a vacation! The Neal Center has served so many in need, so… PLEASE HELP US REFILL IT! Thank you to everyone in the community who answered the call in supporting the Neal Center's food pantry and "Meals-on-Wheels" program with your mon- etary and food donations! Currently, we are in need of these items Currently, we are in need of these items for our homebound: for our homebound: Vienna sausages, miniature canned hams, salmon, beef stew, corned beef, saltine crackers, canned fruits and vegetables, shelf-stable pasta, spaghetti sauce, rice, noodles, cereal and oatmeal. Please be sure that the items being donated are well within their expiration dates on the item. Items donated to the center that have expired cannot be given out. We are unable to accept refrigerated items. If you'd prefer making a cash dona- tion, it would be very welcome! When writing your check, be sure to indicate that your donation is for "The Food Pantry". While our facility is still closed to the public, we are able to accept donations, Monday – Thursday, from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm. THE DEADLINE TO PURCHASE ADVANCED TICKETS IS WEDNESDAY, MAY 25 AT 12 NOON Come out to the Liv- ing History Farm at Kings Mountain State Park on May 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy a day of local crafts and fresh produce, music, food, fun, and more. Feel free to bring water, sunscreen, folding chair to enjoy entertainment, and totes to carry your goodies home. The farm is a replica of a 19th century South Caro- lina yeoman farm which includes a barn, cotton gin and blacksmith/carpenter shop. School group tours available by appointment. The Living History Farm is available 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., March through October and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., November through February. Kings Mountain State Park is adjacent to the Revolutionary War battle- field at Kings Mountain Na- tional Military Park. Local crowds flock to the park for regularly scheduled special events when living history demonstrations are held at the park's replica 1800s Piedmont farm. The Ridge- line Trail, a favorite attrac- tion, provides a unique experience that connects three parks and two states. Craft and farmers market at the Living History Farm Caden and Kira enjoy the Living History Farm.
