That event – the Shining in Shelby Airstream weekend – is returning May 6-8. Said Ms. Godfrey via an email media release, "We are not organizing it (as) it is co- ordinated by Roger Holland and the Carolinas Airstream Club, but we are helping them get the word out." Simply put, on that week- end, Godfrey said "…be- tween 30-35 of the shiny sil- ver Airstream campers will be on display in Uptown Shelby, bringing visitors from around the state and region to enjoy our sweet little town." On Friday, May 6, at 9:15 a.m., there will be a caravan of Airstreams into Uptown (coming) down Lafayette St., noted Godfrey, who added that "…the public is invited to stand on the sidewalk along N. Lafayette St., and wave as they pass by." On Saturday, May 7, from 1 to 4 p.m., there will be an open house, where most of the Airstreams will be avail- able for the public to tour. "We'll have live music – James Gilmore jazz trio – from 1 to 3 p.m., on the lawn of the Court Square, and the community is encouraged to bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the afternoon," stated Godfrey, who added, "We expect a good crowd of visitors between the Air- stream event and the Gard- ner-Webb commencement celebrations, so we have identifi ed overfl ow parking lots for that weekend, which will be marked with 'event parking' signs."
