She was born in McDowell County, NC, daughter of the late Fate Morgan and Maggie Thomas Grindstaff. She is survived by her hus- band, Glen H. Cody, of the home; sons: Bart Truesdale (Joan), Shelby, NC, and Joe Cody (Tina), Kings Mountain, NC; daughter: Glenda Garland (Lee), Spruce Pine, NC; siblings: Jeanette Clemons (Sherman), Polkville, NC, Harold Grindstaff (Margaret), Old Fort, NC, and Ralph Grindstaff (Judy), Kings Mountain, NC; and eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. Graveside service was held March 18, 2022 at Mountain Rest Cemetery with Pastor Carroll Brackett officiating. Interment was at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC. PATRICK WILLIAM BRIDGES Patrick William Bridges passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Patrick was born November 12, 1967, to Don Bridges and He is survived by his wife, Donna Jewell Foster of the home; three children, Tina Melton (Chad) of Boiling Springs, NC, Lisa McCracken (Mitch) of Shelby, Jeffrey Foster of Shelby; four grand- children; and one brother, Jimmy Foster (Linda) of Sandy Mush. BRENDA KAY MULL ALLEN Brenda Kay Mull Allen, age 79, of Shelby, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 10, 2022. She is survived by her son, Shannon Allen of Shelby, NC; a grandson; and a sister, Kathy Callahan of Shelby, NC. Born January 25, 1943 in Cleveland County, Brenda was the daughter of the late Samford William Mull and Bessie Pheagins Mull and was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Wade Allen; two brothers, Bob Mull and Bud Mull; and a sister, Diane Blankenship. He was born on July 12th, 1931. Garland was the youngest son of the late Willie Young Byers and Claudia Lancaster Byers. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Cannon Byers; and Arcenia Byers Price Carver, William Paul Byers, Eunice Byers Kelly, Amos Bruner Byers, James Lloyd Byers, Morris J. Byers, and Walter L. "Slick" Byers. Garland is survived by his daughter, Susan Byers Williams (Russell); his son Garland Franklin Byers, Jr.; four grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and sister-in- law, Lucille Byers Roberson. The funeral service was held March 19, 2022 at the Caroleen United Methodist Church with Reverend Roy Byers and Reverend Greg Dickens officiating. Interment followed at the Byers Family Cemetery. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Estell Martin Rayfield. She is survived by her hus- band, Curtis Herron of the home; son, John Herron of Greenville, SC; daughter, Liberty Herron of Grover; sis- ters, Pat Herron and hus- band Curly of Blacksburg and Robin Short and husband Bobby of York; and broth- Patti MacArthur. MARY MARGARET LEDFORD SAIN Mary Margaret Ledford Sain, age 95, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022. Born in Cleveland County on May 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Esper Nevitt and Cora Leola Weaver Ledford. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her two brothers, four sisters, and her late husbands, John Bridges and Blain Sain. Mary is survived by her three sons, Johnnie, Terry, and Joseph Bridges (Diana), six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren. A funeral service was held March 17, 2022 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory with James McKee officiating. Burial followed the service at Cleveland Memorial Park. Born in Cleveland County, NC on July 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Hal Matthew Bowman and Neva Towery Bowman. Mr. Bowman also served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was pre- ceded in death by his wife, Barbara Roberts Bowman; son-in-law, Benny Price; brother, Mike Bowman and two sisters, Joann Goodman and Ruth Bowman. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Price of Shelby; son, Eddie Bowman and wife, Leslie of Stanley; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service was held March 20, 2022 at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel. The burial followed the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
