Hill, 83, of Union, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 10, 2021. He was born on February 15, 1938, in Princeton, to the late Lossie and Irene (Catt) Hill. He graduated top of his class in 1956 from Hazleton High School, where he played basketball and, in his senior year, set the Gibson Coun- ty basketball scoring record, which he held for six years. He had a bachelor's degree from Oakland City College and a master's degree in mathemat- ics from Indiana State Univer- sity. He started his coaching and teaching careers at Fort Branch and Tecumseh before coming to Petersburg High School in 1969. While there, and later Pike Central, he taught mathematics, coached varsity basketball and cross country, served as athletic di- rector, and was also principal of Pike Central Middle School. For over 25 years, he taught night school mathematics at Ivy Tech in Evansville. In addi- tion to his career in education and coaching, he loved tend- ing to his cattle and was an av- id U.K. basketball fan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Caro- lyn (Davidson) Hill. He is survived by his son, Brent Hill, of Evansville; grandsons, Austin Hill, of Boston, Mass., and Alexan- der (Shelby Rudicel) Hill, of Union; and a dear cousin, Peg Hyneman, of Hazleton. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Union Com- munity Cemetery in Union. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. EDT on Wednes- day at O.D. He was born in Ireland, Ind., on July 9, 1940, to Clar- ence and Myrneth (Fredrick) Hayes. He retired from Jasper Cor- poration after 45 years of ser- vice and attended Algiers United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn; daugh- ters Kim (Paul) Lueken, of Huntingburg, and Kristi (Bri- an) Query, of Eckerty; sisters, Norma Northerner, of India- napolis, and Nell Gregson, of Greenwood; grandchildren, J.D. Wheatley and Madison Query; step-grandchildren, Josh Lueken and Maddex Gar- rett; and sister-in-law, Joanne Hayes. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jeryl and Jack. JEFFREY DeWAYNE BAILEY Jeffrey DeWayne "Buzz" Bailey, 61, of Lynnville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 5, 2021. He was born in Princeton on November 12, 1959, to Gordon DeWayne and Barbara Sue (McCrary) Bailey. He was preceded in death by his father, DeWayne Bai- ley; grandparents, Ora and Ruth McCrary, and Amel and Bettye Bailey. He is a graduate of Pike Central High School and was a proud journeyman with Sheetmetal Workers Union Local #20 for over 35 years. He enjoyed family time, boat- ing, NASCAR, hunting, IU basketball, and following his children's and grandchildren's sports accomplishments. He was a founding member of L A Dirtriders and L A Sports- man's Club. A truly original man, he will be missed by fam- ily, many cherished friends and community members. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 39 years, Linda (Tuley) Bailey; daughters, Amanda (Keith) Mosiman and Andrea (Drew) Lasher; son, Walter "Alex" (Rachel) Bailey; five grand- children; mother, Sue Bai- ley; brother, Chris Bailey; un- cle, Leroy ( Janet) Bailey; nu- merous brothers- and sisters- in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. MARGARET MAE ROSS Margaret Mae Ross, 81, of Francisco, entered rest on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Riv- erOaks Health Campus. She was born on January 30, 1940, in Stacer, to Rollie and Velma (Memmer) Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vivian Hamilton; her brothers, Bill, Charles, Robert and Donald Hamilton; and husband, Os- car "Shady" Ross, on Nov. 27, 2017, who she married on June 6, 1958. She was a homemaker, farmed along with her hus- band and worked part-time for many years at Ambassador Greeting Cards and Buehler's Grocery Stores. She enjoyed spending time at Lake Bark- ley with her family and watch- ing birds. She was a member of Francisco General Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Dale) Lud- wig, of Rockport, and Sondra (Bruce) Haines, of Oakland City; son, Oscar "Bo" ( Jessica) Ross, of Haubstadt; six grand- children; six great-grandchil- dren; brother, John Hamil- ton, of Evansville; and sisters, Mary Ann Abbott, of Oakland City, and Martha ( Jim) Short, of West Salem, Ill. Thank You GARY STEPHEN MCCONCHIE Gary Stephen McConchie, 76, of Winslow, formerly of Paris, Ill., passed away at 8:14 a.m. EDT Monday, July 12, 2021, at his residence. He was born March 20, 1945, in Paris, the son of the late Eldon "Slim" and Ina ( Wil- hoit) McConchie. He married Dianne De- bolt on April 6, 1968, in Par- is. She preceded him in death March 26, 1983. He later mar- ried Mary Irene Stutt on Feb- ruary 16, 1985, in Petersburg, and she survives. He was retired after 40 years as a billing clerk with the Pennsylvania Central, Conrail and CSX railroad com- panies. He was a loyal IU Basketball and Indianapolis Colts football fan, who enjoyed being out- doors and working in his yard. Besides his wife, he is sur- vived by a son, Clint (Nicole) McConchie, of Jasper; five stepchildren, Melissa Tyree, Penny (Rick) Holt, Cecelia Ol- iver and Sheri (Danny) Scott, all of Indianapolis, and Clay- ton Tyree, of Winslow; a sis- ter, Deborah Conner, of Clin- ton; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sev- eral nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dianne De- bolt; two brothers, Mike and Phil McConchie; and a sister, Phyllis Balicki. MARCIA WHEATON SEIFRIG Marcia Wheaton Seifrig, 67, of Otwell, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021, at home. She was born on May 15, 1954, in Newport News, Va., to Benjamin and Martha ( John- son) Wheaton. She married Morton Seifrig on May 25, 1976. She was a member of the Ot- well Community Center and was the Otwell Senior Center Director. She is survived by her hus- band, Marty Seifrig, of Otwell; one son, Timothy (Rachel) Seifrig, of Adolphus, Ky.; two grandchildren, Amalie and Wyatt Seifrig; two brothers, Ben Wheaton, of North Caro- lina, and Charlie Wheaton, of Newport News, Va.; and one sister, Charlene Martin, of Newport News, Va. There will be no viewing or funeral services at this time, following Marcia's wishes of cremation. Graveside services to be an- nounced at a later date. McGlothlin, 84, passed away on July 8, 2021, in Ann Arbor, Mich. He was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1937, in Cynthiana, (miraculously just one day before the hospital burned down), to father, Kern McGlothlin, an Indiana Hall of Fame basketball coach from Winslow High School, and mother, Laverne McGlothlin (Egbert). He grew up mostly in and around the small towns of Winslow and Stendal. He was an only child and was very close to his family, especial- ly his aunts, Leila and Mary. He graduated from Winslow High School, then earned a business degree from the University of Evansville. He worked as an assistant hos- pital administrator at Gib- son General Hospital, raised a family with his wife, Nancy, in Fort Branch, and eventual- ly resettled in Michigan to be closer to his children. His fa- vorite job was working at Fort Knox Self Storage in Ann Ar- bor because it allowed him to do his favorite thing, meet peo- ple from all walks of life and talk to them as if they had been lifelong friends. He loved his family and had a lifetime of great memories with them. He also loved play- ing cards, going out to dinner, and sharing laughs, working his post-retirement job at Hol- iday's Restaurant in Ann Ar- bor, and passionately follow- ing his favorite sports—Big 10 basketball, the San Francisco Giants and the Detroit Tigers. He is survived by his daugh- ters, Kelly and Jennifer; his son, Chris (Kip); and their families. A Celebration of Life will be at St. Francis Church in Ann Arbor, Mich., at a later date and a memorial in his honor will be placed in Winslow. His ashes will be bur- ied alongside his father and mother in Evansville. His favorite advice was "Always be kind" – a rule he followed every day of his life. MARIEDITH LEVON RILEY Mariedith Levon Riley, 90, of Oakland City, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Tidewell Hospice House in Bradenton, Fla. She was born on Friday May 2, 1931, in Vincennes, to James L and Cecelia Bernice (Burnett) Wallace. On April 16, 1949, in Princ- eton, she married Charles D. Riley, who passed in 2002. She was a lifelong resident of Oakland City and Saraso- ta, Fla., and attended Gener- al Baptist Church of Oakland City. She and Charles owned a small restaurant on Hwy. 64 in Oakland City called Riley's Diner, and the Taste Freeze on the corner of Franklin and Morton.
