"The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great de- light in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17, NIV ). The Lord delights in us. What a wonderful thought. Even though we are full of mis- takes. The list of ways we fall short is endless, but if we are truly repentant, we don't need to spend time beating our- selves up over our mistakes. We get to say we are truly sor- ry and then move on. Can you imagine the Lord who saved us is so thrilled about it that he sings us a song? We are remembering those in need of prayer. Don't forget to thank God for answered prayer. We invite you to worship with us. Remember those on our prayer list, the shut-ins and our lost loved ones. To achieve success in life, an obstacle to be aware of and overcome is weariness. For ex- ample, it's reputed that during the Kentucky Derby, the win- ning horse runs out of oxy- gen after the first half-mile and runs the rest of the way on "heart." So, look into your heart today and see if you are truly committed. "Do not cast your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise" (Hebrews 10 :35 -36). It wins the confidence of the people for the Lord. Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. It has been estimated that more Christians have been killed for their faith during the last 100 years than in all other centuries combined since the time of Christ. One reason is the great expansion of Christi- anity in the last few centuries, often into places of great un- belief and hostility. Another reason is the rise of militant- ly anti-religious political sys- tems. August 2-6 —VBS. A Faithful Man Few have ever heard of Ed- ward Kimball. His name is a footnote in the annals of church history. He was the Sunday school teacher who lead D.L. Moody to Christ. He went one afternoon to the Boston shoe store where the 19 -year-old Moody was work- ing in the stockroom wrapping and shelving shoes. Kimball said he spoke "limping words." He later said, "I never could remember just what I did say: something about Christ and his love; that was all." He ad- mitted it was "a weak appeal." Moody then and there gave his heart to Christ. Of course, D.L. Moody was used mightily by the Lord as an evangelist both in Ameri- ca and in England. His min- istry made a massive impact on both sides of the Atlantic, spanning most of the second half of the nineteenth centu- ry. Tens of thousands testified that they came to Christ be- cause of his ministry. Among Moody's converts were peo- ple like C.T. Studd, the great pioneer missionary, and Wil- bur Chapman, who himself became a well-known evan- gelist. Moody subsequent- ly founded Moody Bible In- stitute, where thousands of missionaries, evangelists and other Christian workers have been trained during the past century and sent out into all the world. All of that began when one man was faithful to introduce another individual to Christ— John MacArthur. Blessed are they who are bored with minister's man- nerisms and mistakes, for they get nothing out of the sermon. Blessed is the church mem- ber who expects to be invited to his own church, for he is part of the problem instead of the solution. Blessed are they who gos- sip, for they cause strife and divisions that please me. Blessed are they who are easily offended, for they soon get angry and quit. Blessed are they who do not give their offering to carry on God's work, for they are my best helpers. Blessed is he who profess- es to love God but hates his brother and sister, for he shall be with me forever. Blessed are the trouble makers, for they shall be called children of the devil.
