SPORTS BRIEFS Pike Central K-8 Soccer Camp Pike Central will put on a three-day soccer camp for boys and girls in grades K-8, July 28 -30. Camp will be at the main soccer field behind Old Petersburg Gym. Cost for each camper will be $25. Checks may be made payable to PC Soccer Boosters. Kindergarten through fifth grades will be each day from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sixth through eighth grades will be each day from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Each camper will get a T-shirt if registration and payment by mail is received by July 7. Sign-ups the day of camp are accepted, but late sign-ups will not receive a T-shirt. High School boys' and girls' soccer players and coaches will run the camp. There will be age-specific drills and in- struction, games and competitions for all. Bring indoor or tennis shoes. If there is bad weather, the camp will be in- side OPG. Otwell Men's Basketball League Start-Up The 2021 OMBL (Otwell Men's Basketball League) will start up again in August for its fall season. The cap for the total teams will be 10 again this year, with a minimum of six teams. Eight players per team are recommended due to there not being any mid-season acquisitions. Due to the un- certainty of how many people will play this year, there will not be a "free agent" pool. If you don't have the resources to form a team, then you will need to ask who might need an extra player. The T-shirt fee will be required upfront this year. If you are interested, have questions or need to submit your team, contact John Hellman at 812-354-4729 or follow them on their facebook group at Otwell Men's Bas- ketball League. Once the limit of six is hit, a submission deadline will be posted on the Facebook group. Hunter Education class set for August 2-6 The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division, is sponsoring a Hunter Education Class beginning August 2, according to Keith Thomas. The class will be at the Sugar Ridge Fish and Wildlife Headquarters, 2310 E. SR 364, Winslow, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. At- tendance in each session is required. Anyone born after December 31, 1986, must successful- ly complete a DNR offered hunter education class to pur- chase a hunting license. Seating is limited, so go to http;// www.register-ed.com to register. Additional information regarding class requirements, content and location is al- so available on the registration page. Bird Hunters' 15th Annual Free Youth Day is Oct. 9 All area youth are invited to participate in the Pike Coun- ty Bird Hunters' Club 15th Annual Brownwells NR A Youth Day on Saturday, October 9. Youth ages seven through 18 will find plenty of activities, beginning at 8 a.m. with a pro- vided breakfast. The no-charge day in the field includes darts, archery, BB gun, muzzle loader, .22 rifle, trap shoot- ing and Chukar hunting over dogs. Registered participants will be in a random drawing for more than a dozen rifles, shotguns and archery sets after a day of outdoor activities. The Pike County Bird Hunt- ers' Club is located five miles south of Petersburg on SR 57 and just two miles west on Division Road. Watch for signs. Do not bring any firearms to the event. All firearms and ammunition will be provided by the club. Adults are en- couraged to attend, and will have breakfast and lunch for a donation. A Hunter Education Card is required for Chu- kar Hunting. A Hunter Safety course for youth is being offered August 2-6 at the Sugar Ridge Fish and Wildlife Headquarters building, just off SR 61 on SR 364. Following a day of outdoor activities, there will be a search-and-rescue demonstration, followed by the random drawing for long guns and archery sets.
