Richard Andrew Bridges Sr, 89, formerly of Kings Mountain, passed away on June 17, 2021. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, the only son of the late Charlie and Verdie Short Bridges and was preceded in death by his only sister, Mary Alice Huffstickler; his in-laws, Dewey and Violet Ledwell; a daughter-in-law, Julie Bridges; and a great grand- child. Mr. Bridges served our country in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ledwell Bridges; son, Richard (Richie) Bridges Jr. (Patricia) of Kings Mountain, NC; daughter, Cynthia Milling (Dale) of Casar, NC; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held June 21, 2021 at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church with Pastors Greg Neely and Will Davis officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She was born on August 10, 1937 in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Reverend Robert Lattie and Winnie Moss Chaney and was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Short; by four brothers, Grady Lee, Robert Howard, Johnny Lee and Jack Chaney; six sisters, Lucille Chaney Gladden, Loretta Chaney, Peggy Chaney, Martha Sue Rhea, Edith Chaney Millwood, and Doretha "Sis" Chaney; and her son, Mark Short. She is survived by her son, Chris Short and his wife, Lynn of Kings Mountain; and her seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand- child. Funeral service was held June 23, 2021 in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with Reverend Casey Short officiating. Interment was at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC. JACQUELINE SUE LEDFORD TOWERY Jacqueline Sue Ledford Towery, 70, of Lawndale, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Born in Cleveland County, NC on September 25, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Guy Ledford and Pauline Ledford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll Ledford and Harold Ledford and a sister, Deannie Mull. Survivors include her hus- band, Samuel Keith Towery; two sons, Brian Towery and wife, Kimberly and Patrick Towery and wife, Pamela both of Lawndale; three sisters, Joann Sharpe of Arrangements: Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kings Mountain, NC. MILAS EFIRD WILSON Milas Efird Wilson, 82, of Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 18, 2021. A native of Kings Mountain, NC he was the son of late Milas Leroy and Nellie Sims Wilson and husband of the late Barbara Wilson. Mr. Wilson served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by three sons: Keith Wilson (Sandra), Larry Wilson (Rita), both of Blacksburg, and Darrell Wilson (Melanie) of Fallston, NC; his daughters: Glenda Cook (Bobby) of Gaffney and Melissa Robertson (Jeff) of Blacksburg; and twenty- four grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchil- dren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preced- ed in death by brothers; Sam, Bill, Jimmy, Graham, Odel, Mitch, Charles, Abe (Tootsie) Wilson; a daugh- ter, Gail Peterson; two sons: David Eugene and Timothy Wayne; daughter-in-law, Kay Wilson; son-in-law, John Peterson and a grand- son. A Celebration of Life ser- vice was held with Rev. David Collins officiating. Burial followed at Clingman Memorial Gardens. EDWARD L. "BUTCH" RAINES Edward L. "Butch" Raines, 77, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. He was born in Cleveland County to the late George W. and Ruth Morris Raines. Mr. Raines is also preced- ed in death by his brother, Bobby Raines. He is survived by his wife, Jane McMurray Raines; chil- dren, Scott Raines of Santee, SC, Shane Raines of Boiling Springs, NC, Lynn Todd and husband Dewey Oaks of Grover, NC and Leah Oaks of the home; sisters, Sue Raines Strickland and hus- band Carl of Raleigh, NC; Martha "Mott" Raines Myers and husband Bob of Kings Mountain, NC; sister-in-law, Janice Raines of Fallston, NC; and three grandsons, six granddaughters and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Randall was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on March 21, 1933 a son of the late Lector Lee Randall and Edna Mae Sigmon Randall. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Danny Randall; a brother J.L. Randall and two sisters, Merlyn Carpenter and Betty Black. Survivors include a daugh- ter, Terri Valentine (Doug Randall); a son, Tracy Randall (Shelly Cogdill) both of Cherryville; a daughter- in-law, Kristi Randall of Hendersonville; a sister, Ann Ramsey of Cherryville; and four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. Burial will be private.
