He's a local striper guide. I have fi shed with him on numer- ous occasions, but most of the time I am his helper when I have friends come and use his services. We always have a good time and it's even better when all those on board catch plenty of fi sh. Most of the time, there's about 4 guys who join us for about a half-day of fi shing. Mike has everything ready when we arrive. The rods are ready for the bait, he's got a good idea where the fi sh are located, and he's already been out before 4:00 a.m. getting live bait for the day. Heck, he even provides water and snacks for all. During the summer, the boat leaves at 6:00 a.m., and there's normally a short ride before we begin to locate the species we've come af- ter. Mike's fi sh-fi nder looks like a large computer screen, or maybe a small television. It has more lines, graphs, shapes, and notifi cations than a stock market ticker tape. Again, it's all part of making it easy for those who are his guests, whether they are novices or experts. When we do locate our fi sh, Mike baits the hooks, lowers the lines, and instructs his crew to simply raise the rod and give it a little tug when a fi sh gets on. Mike has done all the work so anyone who wants to fi sh can have success. Pretty neat. This is a great illustration of the work Christians believe was done by Jesus for each of us, to ensure a right relation- ship with God. Jesus made all the preparation, done all the work, and sacrifi ced all the effort needed, so the sin that was separating us from God would be destroyed. And after he did all that, he invited every person to join him in the boat. Don't be concerned about bringing anything. He has that covered. Don't concern yourself with your lack of ability. He has planned for that. Just get in and enjoy the gift the captain has provided for you. While it cost him everything, it costs you nothing. And he paid the price not out of resent- ment, but for the hope he has of being the good captain of your life. Cleveland County Bass Club fi shed High Rock Lake, June 12th for their June tournament. They almost had the lake to their selves, there was no big federated tournaments that day and the forecast calling for rain kept a lot away. De- pending on which part of the lake you were on, you might have fi shed in the rain. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TOP FIIVE. 1st place--Roger Beaver—5 fi sh—13.50 lbs. 2nd place--Tammy Willis Melton—3 fi sh—9.22 lbs. 3rd place--Richard Mize—2 fi sh— 6.28 lbs. He also took big fi sh of the day with a 5.30 pounder. 4th place--Jimmy Melton—2 fi sh—5.20 lbs. 5th place--John Rankin—3 fi sh—4.52 lbs. The Carolina Bass Club fi shed Mt. Island Lake, Saturday May 29, 2021. With all the Memorial day weekend festivi- ties they still had 15 anglers show up to fi sh. HERE ARE THE TOURNAMENT RESULTS. 1st place--The team of Doyle Hudson and Bryan Branch had a 5 fi sh limit weighing 9.01 pounds. The team also won the big fi sh of the day award weighing in a 2.67 lb. largemouth bass.. 2nd place--The team of Jimmy Melton and Derek Barkley with a fi ve fi sh limit that weighed 7.08 pound 3rd place--Dean Ford also with a fi ve fi sh limit weighing 6.70 pounds. The team of Russell Cook and Roger Clark also with a fi ve fi sh limit weighing 5.07 pounds. They also won the 2nd big fi sh of the day award with a 2.31 pounder. CONGRATULATIONS!
