Born in Cleveland County, NC on February 28, 1954, he was the son of the late Hoyle Anderson Byers and Grace Viola Rochester Byers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steven Dwayne Byers; one daughter, Angela Marie Rackley; two sisters, Lucille Tesseneer and Cathy Thomas and a brother, James Anderson Byers. Survivors include nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Following the visitation at Bessemer City American Legion on May 15, 2021, a motorcycle ride was held. WARREN STEWART "SMOKE" BROWN Mr. Warren Stewart "Smoke" Brown, 66 of Asheville, NC passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021. He was born on October 7, 1954 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Woodrow Brown and the late Dorothy Sanders Brown. Mr. Brown served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Byers; and his grandparents. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Tymothy Jones; his sister, LaRita Born in Burke County, on March 15, 1936, he was the son of the late John Pinkney Smith and Ella Buff Smith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Alvin Smith, John Henry Smith, Franklin Smith and Ace Smith; seven sisters, Sudie Falls, Lucy Lail, Iva Cook, Florence Cook, Annie Maude Towery, Mae Swink, Helen Smith; and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife, Leeattle Moses Smith; son, Randy Smith and wife Rita of Connelly Springs; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two brothers, Howard B. Smith, and Reid Smith all of Connelly Springs. The funeral service was held May 11, 2021 at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Fulbright officiating. GENEVA LOUISE WHISNANT McNEILLY Geneva Louise Whisnant McNeilly, 89, of Ellenboro, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at home. Born in Cleveland County, on October 21, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Dwight Elwood Whisnant and Hannie Ola Blanton Whisnant. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wayne McNeilly; two sons, Danny Wayne McNeilly and Dwight Steven McNeilly; one grandchild; three broth- ers, Howard Hopper, Gene Hopper and J.R. Hopper; and one sister, Frances Webber. Survivors include three daughters, Rheba Kaye Ward of Forest City, Carolyn Earley of Ellenboro and Lynda Hoyle of Ellenboro; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and Glover (Sanders); and his brother, Raleigh Brown (April). Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Kimberly Stone Parris and the son of Everette Eugene Bradburn and Catherine Pennington Golden. In addition to his wife, Mr. Parris is survived by one son, Damien Parris; three daughters, Deanna Parris, Cassidy Parris, and Alexa Parris; two brothers, Don Parris and Richard Bradburn; two sisters, Dawn Childers and Shirleen Wood; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Oliver Golden, his grandparents; and his brother-and sister-in- law, Josh and Sandy Stone. Born in Montana on October 10, 1960, he was the son of the late Donald Jerry Porter and Betty Iler Porter. Mr. Porter served our country in the US Army. In addition to his parents he is pre- ceded in death by a brother, Donnie Porter.
