Peterson, 80, of Blacksburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 6th, 2021. Born in Blacksburg, he was the husband of Valerie Eaker Peterson and the son of the late Willie Peterson and Nuna Peterson. In addition to his wife, Mr. Peterson is survived by three sons, Wayne Earl Peterson of Gastonia, Jarrett Peterson of Blacksburg, and Doug Eaker of Blacksburg; two daughters, Christine P. Alexander, of Smyrna and Joy Painter of Blacksburg; two sisters, Shirley Rudasill of Gastonia and Hazel Hollins of Blacksburg; and nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchil- dren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evelyn Wyatt Peterson; a grandson; three brothers, Harvey, David, and Floyd Peterson; and four sisters, Louise Moore, Irene Giles, Thelma Neeling, and Nellie Wylie. Graveside services were held April 9, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery, Smyrna, SC. LIZZIE MAE BATTLE McDOWELL Mrs. Lizzie Mae Battle McDowell, 73, of Shelby, NC passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021. She was born on July 26, 1947 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Early Battle, Sr. and the late Rev. Elizabeth Thompson Battle. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Leon McDowell; five brothers, John Joseph Battle, Danny Jerome Battle, Robert Lee Battle, and Early Battle Jr. and James Willis Battle and two sisters, Odessa Battle Taylor and Matilda Battle. She is survived by her hus- band, William McDowell, Sr.; two sons, William McDowell, Jr (Carlotta) of Grover NC and John Michael McDowell of Shelby, NC; two daughters, Senora McDowell Walker (William) and Andera Yvette McDowell both of Shelby; one brother, Eddie Battle; sisters, Christine Norris (Edward) of Mooresboro NC; Shelia Battle and Marie Jackson (Terry) of Forest City, NC; eleven grandchil- dren; nine great grandchil- dren; and five sisters and brothers-in-law, Rufus Parker (Ruth), Louise McDowell, Don Johnson (Inez), Vincent Kelly (Johnnie), Bobby Joe McDowell (Penny) and Willie McDowell (Donna). Funeral services were pri- vate on April 9, 2021. Burial took place at Palmer Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. RAYMOND "BUTCH" MONROE GALLOWAY Raymond "Butch" Monroe Galloway, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Born in Cleveland County on August 29, 1942 he was the son of the late Marshall Raymond Galloway and wife Edna Goode Galloway. Mr. Galloway served our country in the US Army. In addition to his parents he was pre- ceded in death by his three brothers; Joe, Mike and Dinky Galloway. Butch is survived by his wife, Jane Stroup Galloway; three daughters; Crystal Galloway of Grover, Pam McSwain and husband Jamie of Waco, Terry Trahan and husband, Thomas of Patterson, LA and one son, Kevin Galloway and wife, LeaAnn of Polkville; nine grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and sisters- in-law, Belinda Lankford (Steve) of Kernersville, Debbie Putnam (Roy) and Doris Stroup both of Kings Mountain. Memorial service with mili- tary honors was held April 9, 2021 at David Baptist Church with Reverends Jody Griffin and Brian Taule officiating. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Billy Don Yelton Sr. and the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Boheler and Ethel Moore Boheler. Mrs. Yelton is survived by her sons, Billy Don Yelton Jr. and Stuart C. Yelton, and wife, AnnMarie; her daugh- ter, Vicki Yelton Hodge; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Belinda Griswold and Donna Luquire; her granddaughter; and her brother, Howard Boheler. Continued From Page 15 ROBERT "BOB" JOHNSON WESP Robert "Bob" Johnson Wesp, age 67 of Cherryville, NC, formally of Andover, NJ passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021. He was born March 10, 1954 in Ridgewood, New Jersey to the late Robert Edward and Ruth Marion Johnson Wesp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Wesp. Survivors include his wife, Debra L. Hornak; son, Derek Hornak; a grandson; brother, Richard Wesp and wife, Mary Lou; and sister- in-law, Mariann Wesp. LORETTA YOUNG JACKSON Loretta Young Jackson, 78, of Lawndale, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. Born in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Vearl Barnette Young. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Steve" Jackson; brother, Dennis Young and wife, Janet; sisters, Wilma Greene and husband Johnny and Sybil White and husband Joe. She is survived by her sons, Chris Jackson and wife, Michele of Greensboro and Bryan Jackson and wife, Christie of Grover; daughter, Kelly Vickers and husband, Dale of Lawndale; eight grandchildren, J and eight great grandchildren; her brother, Terry Young and wife Mildred; and sister, Lavonda Stringfellow and husband, Bob. Funeral services were held April 12, 2021 at Westview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Bowling officiating. Burial followed in Cleveland Memorial Park.
