Funeral services were held April 5th, 2021 at New Life Family Worship Center in Kings Mountain, NC with Reverend Dr. Robert Eng officiating. Burial service will be held at a later date, at Adkins Cemetery in Clay, West Virginia. Shawn was born in Summersville, West Virginia, to Carolyne Kiser and Delbert Adkins on August 19th, 1973. Mr. Adkins served our country in the U.S. Navy. Shawn is sur- vived by his wife, Stephanie Adkins; his chil- dren, Kirra and Gabriel Adkins; his sister, Amber Kiser; brothers: Randall, Dustin, Derrick, Joseph and Jordan Adkins; his mother and stepfather, Carolyne and Fred Kiser; and his father and stepmother, Delbert and Loetta Adkins. HAZEL LEE SIMS CHERRY Mrs. Hazel Lee Sims Cherry, 80, of Shelby, NC passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021. She was born on February 9, 1941 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Jack Sims and the late Effie Lou Barnett Sims. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel George Cherry, Sr.; three sisters, Rosie Brooks, Christine Russell and Maggie Gullatte; and four brothers, Matthew Sims, Shiloh Sims, Frank Sims and Willie B. Sims. Left to cherish her pre- cious memory, her daughter, Shelba Cherry (Edward); two sons, Samuel Cherry, Junior (Ashley) and Sherman Cherry all of Shelby, NC; three sisters, Pauline Wright, Betty Allison (Jimmy) both of Shelby and Mary Parks of Charlotte, NC; one sister-in- law, Della Degree (Freddie); two brothers-in-law, Edward Lee Gullatte and Isaiah Russell; seventeen grand- children and fourteen great- MARY FAYE WRIGHT HOPPER Mary Faye Wright Hopper, age 91, passed away on March 29, 2021. Born in Cleveland County on May 10, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Charles Lee Wright and Maggie Weathers Wright. In addition to her par- ents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Weldon Hopper; four brothers: Everett, Herman, Ralph, and Zeb; and six sis- ters: Helen Camp, Margaret Hendrick, Wilma Grigg, Eunice Queen and Maxine Willis. Faye is survived by her two sons, Daryl Hopper and Celia their children; and David Hopper and wife Lisa and their children; one sis- ter, Isabelle Lowery; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held April 2, 2021 at Sulphur Springs Untied Methodist Church with Reverends Roy Byers and Pricilla Walker officiating. Burial follow in the church cemetery. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Delphus Hamrick and Dora Allen Hamrick and her husband, Hershel. She is survived by her sis- ter, Hazel Stafford of Shelby. She was born on February 12, 1942 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Patience Clark and the late David Farley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Hush; three brothers, Robert J. Clark, Charlie D. Clark and George Clark; and one sis- ter, Edith Mae Clark. She leaves fond memories to a host of nieces, neph- ews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Ms. Hush will be private. MAXINE HAMRICK KENNEDY Maxine Hamrick Kennedy passed away on March 27, 2021. Maxine was born on October 10, 1939 in Shelby, NC to the late Attorney L.T. and Ann Parker Hamrick. Maxine is survived by her husband, Michael S. Kennedy of Shelby; sister, Elizbeth Hamrick Dulaney of Charlotte, NC; son, Scott M. Kennedy of Hickory, NC; son, David Kennedy (Danielle) of Greenville, NC; and four grandchildren. A service for Maxine was held April 6, 2021 at the Chapel of Cecil M. VENITA MARIE HOWELL Venita Marie Howell, 65, of Cherryville, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Born in Cleveland County on June 28, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Cephas Cone Howell and Mary Lee Costner Howell. She is survived by her brother, Roger Howell and wife, Peggy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, David Hill, James Hill and Bernette Hill; sisters, Betty Russell, Mary Ann Odoms, Margaret Shuford, Emma Lizzie Hunt, Ruth Catherine Ramseur and Carolina Odoms; and brothers, Plass Odoms, Roland Odoms and Johnny Odoms. MONTGOMERY JOSHELYN COGGINS Montgomery Joshelyn Coggins, infant daughter of Joshua and Nikki Coggins, of Shelby went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte. Montgomery was born Sunday, March 27th at Atrium Health-Shelby. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather and great-great grandparents. In addition to her loving parents, her memory will be cherished by two sis- ters, Memphis Coggins and Sailor-Mae Coggins; mater- nal grandparents; maternal great-grandparents; and paternal grandmother; A funeral service was held April 3, 2021 in the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Chris Glawson officiating. She was born on June 22, 1950 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Bob Sutton and the late Mattie Bell Harris Sutton. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters Janie Sutton Evans, Jessie Sutton Rainey, and Annie Doris Sutton Brown, and her brothers Leroy, Joe, Ben, Obbie, J.T., John Roberts, Willie Frank, James and Willie Bob Sutton. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Carol Marie Sutton (Jody); and three sons, Johnny Hargro (Darlene), Courtney Hargro (Cassandra) and Chavis Hargro (Bianca); ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Sutton and Alberta Sutton Rankin.
