She was born in Cleveland County, NC on August 23, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Willie Roberts and Carrie Louise Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Durham; a brother, Alvin Gardner and a great-great grandchild. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, James L. Gardner (Wyonella) of Shelby, NC; a daugh- ter, Debra D. Gardner of Richmond, VA; four grand- children, Jared Gardner, Katia Gardner, Nicholas Parrott and Temeshia L. Eberhart; three sis- ters, Gerlean Robinson of Hickory, NC, Velma Ross of Henderson, NV and Dorothy Lavan of Ft. Washington, MD; two brothers, Elisha Lavan of Hickory, NC and Benny Lavan of Suitland, MD; four great-grandchil- dren; one great-great grand- child and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Ms. Gardner was private. Burial took place at Sunset Cemetery. JULIA DALE PARKER Julia Dale Parker, 72, for- merly of Blacksburg, Friday, July 10th, went home to be with the Lord, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, SC. A native of Cherokee County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Curtis Marion and Mary White Parker. Cherishing her memory is her brother, Stephen Parker, Spartanburg, SC and sister, Barbara J. Parker, Mullins, SC. In addition to her par- ents, she is preceded in death by her sister in law, Jacquelyn Parker. A graveside Celebration Of Life Service was held, Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Hopewell Baptist Church In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by brothers; Harry Lee Ellis, Blacksburg, J.L. Ellis, Winter Garden, Florida, Robert Ellis, Alabama, sisters;Lucille Windham, Gaffney and Georgie E. Locklear, Charlotte, NC. The family had a graveside Celebration of Life service, Monday, July 13, 2020, 1:00 pm, at Frederick Memorial Gardens, Gaffney, SC, with the Rev. Willie Thurman offi- ciating. Memorial may be made to New Bedford Baptist Church, 210 New Bedford Church Road, Campobello, SC 29322. GEORGE ANNE (GEORGANNA) MOSS MARSTON George Anne (Georganna) Moss Marston passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2020 after complications from several strokes. She was born on November 24, 1940 in Kings Mountain, NC to George Wingfield and Mae Sue Hord Moss, deceased. She was a res- ident of La Jolla, CA for many years. She is survived by her husband, Tom Gallagher of La Jolla, CA; sisters, Susan Lee Moss Grigg (Glenn) of Raleigh, NC and Sara Nell Moss Hope (Tommy) of Cary, NC. Also surviving are nephews David and George Grigg (Ann), Lindsay Wright (Priscilla Myers) and nieces Laura Grigg Powell (Chris) and Sara Grigg Brame (William C. Jr.) Also surviv- ing are three grandnephews, three grandnieces and many beloved cousins. The family wishes to thank the rehabilitation staff at Scripps Encinitas and at Scripps ICU, and the hos- pice nurses for their help and kindness. A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. in Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC with Reverend Dr. Mac Schafer officiating. REBECCA LYNN "BECKY" CROUSE WILKINSON Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Crouse Wilkinson, age 70 of Cherryville passed away Friday, July 10, 2020 at her residence. She was born July 15, 1949 in Lincoln County to the late Hall Edmond and Ruby Huffman Crouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Slade Wilkinson. DEAN DAVID HENDRICK Dean David Hendrick, age 79, passed away on July 10, 2020 at Atrium Health. Born in Cleveland County on August 9, 1940, he was the son of the late David Stowe and Edith Florence Jenkins Hendrick. In 1960 he married Linda Peeler and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniver- sary on July 2, 2020. Dean is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty Lou Hendrick Crowder. Dean is survived by his wife Linda, sons David (Lynn) and Jimmy, granddaughters Megan Pressley (Scott) and Madison Rogers (Caleb), great-grandchildren Jaxon, Harper and Luke Rogers, and a brother Dwight Hendrick. A funeral service was held at Cleveland Funeral Services on Monday July 13, 2020 at 1:00pm with a visita- tion held one hour prior. A private family burial will be held at a later date. GLORIA PETERSON PHILLIPS Blacksburg - Gloria Peterson Phillips, 74, of 258 McGill Hwy, passed away Monday, July 13th, 2020, at Atrium Health Cleveland. Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Marvin Phillips Jr. and the daughter of the late Carl and Lela Allen Peterson. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Phillips is survived by a son; Randy Phillips and wife, Julie, of Blacksburg; a daughter, Wendy Woods and husband, Woody, of Blacksburg; seven grand- children, Logan Phillips, Kalie Scruggs and husband, Clay, Maria Phillips, Hunter Gibson, Kali Spivey, Matthew Woods, and Tyler Woods; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Aileen Grayson, Helen Hardin, and Barbara Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Glenn, J.W., and Alfred Peterson. Funeral services were held at Rock Springs Baptist Church at 4:00 pm, on July Cemetery, Blacksburg at 10:00am, with the Rev. Lewis Batchelor officiating. TYRONE GALE BECKUM Tyrone Gale Beckum, age 78 of Sellerstown Road, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 19, 1941 in Pasco County, FL to the late Carro and Lela Loretta Alligood Beckum. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Kiser Beckum; and siblings, Angie Peak, Charles Beckum, Glenn Beckum, and Myles Beckum. He is survived by a sis- ter-in-law, Jeanette Hoyle; brother-in-law, Lewis Kiser and wife, Gail; special friends, John and Lorna Ross, Margie Hester, and Jack Gibson; his best fur friend, Gus; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Shady Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center with Pastor Dale Hendricks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. MARY ELLEN ELLIS PHILLIPS Mary Ellen Ellis Phillips, 86, Gaffney, passed away Friday, July 10th, surround- ed by her loving family, at Brookview Healthcare, Gaffney, SC. She was the wife of the late Paul Pittman Phillips and daughter of the late Loy and Leavy Self Ellis. Cherishing her memory are her brother, Phillip Ellis, Gaffney, SC; sisters; Brenda E. Thomas, Blacksburg, and Lib E. Phillips, Gaffney, special nieces; Tena Earls, Blacksburg and Phyllis Gibson, California, and a special nephew, Johnathan Thomas, Blacksburg. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Steve Wilkinson; son, Shea Wilkinson; and grandsons, Austin Wilkinson and Cain Wilkinson. CHARLES "SONNY" HUGH BEAM Charles "Sonny" Hugh Beam, 86, of Cherryville, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Carolina Caring, Newton. Born in Lincoln County, on November 30, 1933, he was the son of the late Albert Hugh Beam and Kathleen Stroupe Beam. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Kathryn Shidal. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Patsy Taylor Beam; two sons, Aubie Beam and wife Frankie and Chuck Beam and wife Susan all of Cherryville; daughter, Renee B. Rhodes and husband Larry of Cherryville; sister, Anne Anthony of Cherryville; twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. A private service was held Monday, July 13, 2020 at Cedar Grove Lutheran Church with the Pastor Dale Pederson officiating. The burial followed in the church cemetery. TERRY GENE SELLERS Kings Mountain - Terry Gene Sellers, 61, of 436 Goforth Road, passed away on Friday, July 10th, 2020, as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Kings Mountain, he was the son of Gene Milton Sellers and Thelma Louise Burton Sellers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sellers is survived by his daughter, Brittiany Haas and husband, Chris; three broth- ers, Gary Sellers and wife, Susie, Mike Sellers, and Eric Sellers and wife, Shannon; two sisters, Linda Yarbarough and husband, Dwayne, and Kathy Armstrong; and his two grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Annslee and Zoey Haas.
