"Super Dave" Shawhan, 81, of Princeton, passed away on Wednes- day, June 3, 2020, at home, following an illness. He was born on Jan. 5, 1939, in Pike County, to George and Mable (Henke) Shawhan. He had been a resident of Princeton for 56 years. He worked at Hansen Manu- facturing for 12 years, pre- viously working as a ma- chinist at Potter & Brum- field and for Old Ben Coal. He was a member of the Co- lumbia Masonic Lodge #450 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville. He was a loy- al and enthusiastic St. Lou- is Cardinals and IU Basket- ball fan and was best known for his homemade bologna salad and his awesome choc- olate cake. He also enjoyed spending time at Crickets visiting with his friends. He was an exceptional fa- ther, outstanding grand- father and extraordinary great-grandfather who en- joyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Sue Shawhan, of Princeton; children, Terri Krieg, of Princeton, Dayna Shawhan, of Princeton, and Scott Shawhan, of Evansville; grandchildren, Cheyne Kermode, Clint (Melissa) Krieg and Coby (Theresa) Krieg; several great-grand- children; brother, Mike Shawhan, of Petersburg; and beloved canine compan- ion, Lilly. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Flo Phillips. There will be no service at this time. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. The family would like to CHARLES N. SIMS Charlie N. Sims, 81, of Newburgh, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born October 21, 1938, in Pike County, to Lyn- don and Pansy (Harmon) Sims. He was a graduate of Winslow High School. He attended Vincennes Uni- versity and graduated from Oakland City College. He earned his master's degree in education at Indiana State University. He played bas- ketball at both Vincennes and Oakland City. Upon graduation, he taught at Hymera, Ind., for two years before beginning at Loo- gootee in 1962. He taught at Loogootee for 34 years, until he retired in 1996. While at Loogootee, he was the freshman and assistant varsity basketball coach for two years, and most notably, the men's track and cross country coach for 30 years. During his coaching tenure, he took five track teams to the state meet across three different decades, and in the mid 70s, he bested 50 other cross country teams to ad- vance to the regionals. Upon retirement, he enjoyed golf- ing and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Bever- ly (Brown) Sims; one son, Brian Sims, of Riverside, Calif.; one daughter, Jodi (Nick) Webb, of Carmel; two stepdaughters, Lorie (Brown) (Don) Bancroft, of Warrenton, Mo., and Cher- ish (Brown) (Matt) Slifer, of Newburgh; eight grand- children, Katie and Carlton Webb, Jacie, Jocilyn and Jadan Manion, Ian (Anes- sa), and Chase and Ashton Roeder; two great-grand- daughters, Layla Manion and Freyja Roeder; moth- er in-law, Patricia Thom- as; one brother, Gregg (Al- ice) Sims; and several niec- es and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 36 years and mother of his children, Rosalie (Sor- gius); one sister, Linda Lou (Charles) Curtis. A public graveside buri- al service was at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020, at Iva Cemetery (also known as Pride Cemetery), Co Rd 650 N., Otwell. Nelson, 82, of Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday June 3, 2020. He was born on Septem- ber 5, 1937, the youngest son of John L. Nelson and Ethel L. (Ice) Nelson. He married his roller skating sweetheart, Sharon Darlene Nelson, on June 11, 1959. She preceded him in death in 2012. He was a lifetime mem- ber of Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church. He worked as a member of Indiana Laborer and Hod, while taking care of his lov- ing family. He is survived by his daughter, Carole (Robert) O'Rourke, of Petersburg; son, Brian W. Nelson, of Bloomington; two grand- children, Shawn (Lau- ra) O'Rourke, of Browns- burg, and Kelsey (Barry) Strong, of Petersburg; five great-grandchildren, Nolan and Alton O'Rourke, Auro- ra, and Alistair and Alaric Strong; his brother, Bert Nelson, of Terre Haute; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Russell and Boy- de. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a graveside ser- vice was at 2 p.m. on Satur- day, June 6, 2020, at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Peters- burg, with Pastor Paul New- ton officiating. DEVIN C. KLINGLE Devin C. Klingle, 41, of Jasper, passed away Thurs- day morning, June 4, 2020. He was born in Jasper on March 6, 1979, to Dan- iel and Susanna (Kluesner) Klingle. He married Jaclynne An- ders on June 7, 2014, in Du- bois County. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, listen- ing to music, especially Bil- ly Strings, watching the Kentucky Wildcats basket- ball and Colts football, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Jaclynne Klingle, of Jasper; one son, Prince Wallace, of Jasper; his mother; Susanna (Tom) Schilling of St. Hen- ry; two sisters, Dana (Kent) Weisheit, of Otwell, and Ol- ivia Schilling, of Hunting- burg; and three nieces. Preceding him in death were his father, Daniel T. Klingle; his paternal grand- parents, Carl T. Klingle, Bar- bara Baxter and Eugene Baxter; and his maternal BOBBY GENE HILL Bobby Gene Hill, 88, of Bicknell, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, while at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born in Bicknell on July 24, 1931, to the late Harold Hill and Pauline (Bryant) Hill. He was married to Alma Jane Small on April 9, 1962, and they spent nearly 60 wonderful years together. He was employed by Crane as a machinist, and loved mowing and taking care of old cemeteries. He was an avid hunter and sim- ply put, enjoyed the out- doors. He is survived by his lov- ing wife, Alma Jane Hill; daughter, Donna (Sam) Po- len, of Petersburg; son Rob- ert (Cheri) Hill, of Elletts- ville; three grandchildren, Heather Burnette, Nicolas Powell and Ashley Willis; and four great-grandchil - dren.
