Stu Sanders reaches 25 year milestone with ISP A Pike County resident is one of four State Troop- ers from the Jas- per Post to pass the Career Mile- stone of 25 Years of Service. Cpl. Stu Sand- ers is one of four Troopers from the Jasper Post to recently pass the career mile- stone of 25 years of service dedi- cated to the citi- zens of Indiana. Sanders along with Sergeant David Price, Sergeant Juli Schnell and Master Trooper Gaven Wilson were hired by the Indiana State Police and graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy's 52nd recruit class on June 4, 1995. Corporal Sanders was first assigned to the Evansville Post and covered Pike Coun- ty. Sanders also has served the Department as a Hostage Crisis Negotiator, Marijuana Eradication Team, and Pio- neer Camp Director. Sanders is currently a Corporal at the Jasper Post. Sanders resides in Petersburg with his family. Sergeant David Price has served as a member of the ISP Emergency Response Team(SWAT), Corporal, District Detective and a In- vestigative Squad Leader and is a National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI) graduate of advanced com- puter and cell phone foren- sic courses. Sergeant Price is currently assigned to the Indiana State Police Cyber Crime Unit as a forensic ex- aminer. His duties include - conducting forensic exam- ination on com- puters, cell phones and other digital media for evi- dentiary pur- poses. Price currently resides in Spencer County with his wife Cary and sons, Evan and Nolan. Sergeant Juli Schnell in March of 2002 Schnell was promoted into investigations. In November 2016, Schnell was promoted to the rank of Sergeant taking the position as the Investigative Squad Leader at the Jasper post. Juli and her family reside in Dubois County. Master Trooper Gaven Wilson he works Martin and Daviess Counties. Wil- son has also been on sever- al specialty teams including Explosive Ordinance Re- connaissance Team Mem- ber, Tactical Intervention Platoon, and has served as a Crash Reconstructionist. Wilson has also served the Daviess and Martin County Schools as a Just Say No in- structor for 24 years. Wilson currently resides in Daviess County. Cpl. Stu Sanders Pike County still has lowest COVID-19 numbers By Andy Heuring Pike County has the low- est number of COVID-19 cases in the state and has not had a positive case for 16 days. Pike County's total is at six cases with no deaths. Pike County Health Nurse Amy Gladish said all six people who were diag- nosed with COVID-19 have recovered. "It is a pretty good place to be," said Gladish. Pike County the only county in Indiana to be in single digits for COVID-19. There have been 239 people tested in Pike County. The next closest to Pike County is Vermillion County where 10 people have tested positive for COVID-19, with no deaths and 431 people tested. Statewide there have been 38,033 cases of COVID and 2,135 deaths. The death rate is declining. On Mon- day, June 8 there were eight deaths. That is down from a peak of 50 on April 22. In the last two weeks, deaths have ranged between 21 and six. Other indicators continue to improve. The percentage of Indiana's 3,002 ventilators in used for COVID-19 is 3.8 percent and only 12.1 per- cent of intensive care beds are in use by COVID-19 pa- tients. Lane closures expected on I-69 near SR168 Lane closures on I-69, near Highway 168, are scheduled to start on Mon- day, June 15. The Indiana Department of Transportation announc- es lane closures for a bridge on I-69, just north of State Road 168 in Gibson County. Beginning on or around Monday, June 15, contrac- tors will close the north- bound and southbound right lanes of I-69 about two miles north of the interchange at S.R. 168 for repairs to the bridge spanning County Road 550. Workers will be making repairs to the re- taining wall structure as a part of routine maintenance. During the project, pass- ing lanes in both directions will be open and a lane of traffic will be maintained for the duration of the work. Restrictions will be in place around the clock. The oper- ation is scheduled to be com- plete by mid-October de- pending upon weather con- ditions. INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews. Tin Fest Auto show is Saturday in Stendal The Tin Fest Auto show is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat- urday in Stendal. The annu- al events is a show that ac- cepts anything with wheels. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday for cars, truck, tractors, motorcy- cles and anything else with wheels. The awards will be giv- en at 2 p.m. The classes are 1900 to 1948, 1949 to 1960, 1961 to 1972, 1973 to 1987, 1988 to 2008, 2009 to 2020. Also the top three tractors, and top three motorcycles.
