Minutes with the Bible By Pastor Ricky Kurth Christians, you must vote Religious Viewpoint By Clyde Dupin See MINUTES on 3 See R AMBLINGS on 3 Continued on page 2 A woman answered her door one day to find two policemen on her porch. One of them asked if she was married, and if they could see a picture of her husband. A fter she showed them one, the other of- ficer said, "I'm very sorry, Ma'am, but it looks like your husband has been hit by a truck." She replied, "I know, but he's a good provider, and he helps me with the housekeeping." Well, as I'm sure you ladies would agree, that woman's husband sounds like a keeper. But speaking of keep- ing house, the Apostle Paul wrote that "young women" with "husbands" and "children" should be "keepers at home" (Titus 2:3,4). And as you may know, this phrase is the subject of much controversy among Christian wives and moms, most of whom desire to understand it clearly so that they can obey it. So in this Two Minutes, we're going to begin a study of Paul's words here, a study so exhaustive that we'll have to finish it in later editions. To begin with, the phrase "keepers at home" is sometimes said to mean that a woman can never have any kind of life out- side of the home. But that's not how the word "keeper" is used in our language. Baptist Baptist Greetings all, giving a shout out to Dave Polen and remembering the times we flew out East to do pre-OSHA audits for AES power plants. Not sure but I be- lieve we were invited to help our sister plants with their safety programs three or four times as well as a couple of safe- ty conventions. It was fun and interesting work as we looked at their different pro- grams and the execution of them. Some- times we would see something wrong ac- cording to OSHA regulations or just pos- sibly a dangerous situation and be able to offer assistance to alleviate the problem. Now we seldom get to see one anoth- er and like all the other retirees we have lots to do so we all stay busy. Have you ever had more to do than you have time to get it all done? Well I didn't have enough going on {HAHA} so I start- ed taking apart a room in our house so we can replace our paneling and our floor. I have to say the carpeting in this room has sure been some tough stuff. It had sur- vived many a shampooing and has been used many times as a bathroom for our pets. Although they are all trained to go outdoors to do business it still happens once in awhile. This carpet also showed its toughness as it took us three days to pulled it and pad up. We haven't made it to the tack strips yet. Hopefully we will be ready to start taking down paneling soon. As I mentioned being busy the young- est son called one evening and said, " You know all those clothes hangers we were using in the back yard well we missed one and my lawn mower didn't like it." Jim Gidcumb, Pastor November 3 is a day that may change the future of America forever. Our way of life and liberties are threatened. It is your God-given privilege to vote. It is important that Governors, Senators, members of the House of Representa- tives and other local political leaders be chosen wisely. Today our liberties, free- doms and way of life are under attack. If we care about religious freedom and our American heritage, we must choose those who will uphold these values. We must not allow the elite media, slick T V ads or any influence keep us from voting our conscience. There will be voices that will try to deceive, intentionally misled us into silence or in- fluence our vote by half-truths. When it comes to voting, there is no separa- tion of church and state. Anyone who reads the Old Tes- tament serious- ly knows that reli- gion and govern- ment cannot operate separately. The Old Testament is a book that contains more than the Ten Commandments. PISGAH G.B. CHURCH 6100 S. Augusta Broadway Street Winslow Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m. There will be no children's church. We will practice social distancing. To him that soweth righ- teousness shall be a sure re- ward. A fter a long time, the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, "Lord, thou deliveredst un- to me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more." His lord said unto him, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: hence- forth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righ- teous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me on- ly, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. May God bless each and everyone and be safe. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter WINSLOW G.B. Social distancing is still in place and until further notice, there will be no children's church or Sunday night fel- lowship. June 14, right after morn- ing worship services, there will be a special called meet- ing to amend the constitution by-laws. Thought for the week: "At the end of the day, the thing that you can do is to thank God for your blessings, give Him your worries through prayer, And He will give you rest"—Amen. Be in prayer for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love, because everyone is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. Gary Watson, Pastor Nyles Head, Assoc. In addition to these great things, we will be hosting a Vacation Bible School this summer; the dates are July 20 -24. We're still in the plan- ning stage, and will share more details later, but our VBS theme will be tied to the military. It's called B.O.O.T Camp. We promise it will be a great time for the children, so mark your calendars for the week-long event coming in July. We're excited to announce the return of these things and look forward to seeing every- one return to church. If you don't have a church home, we would love for you to choose Crossroads.
