Everyday at noon, remember to pray the prayer from Dr. Robert Asa, of the Winslow Christian Church, that ap- peared in Sweets Column on April 22. We did not receive any postcards or notes in the mailbox this week at Sweets Column, Winslow, IN 47598. Winslow Patoka River must have ris- en a bit, but not that much higher as of yet. Tuesday morning, May 5, we got plenty of thunder and lightning, and rain. In our area, we got about .2 inches. The Kentucky area got most of these severe storms covering the southern states. Wednesday morning, we also had a few hours of rain, but not as much as Tuesday. We are sup- posed to get more rain, up to an inch, at the end of the week. The temps have stayed around the 60s and 40s at night, and we were just loving the 70 degree weather with the warmer southern winds. Lots of farmers have plowed their fields and planted their crops. The Dogwoods look great with their white blooms in the woods around our area. The tulips are in bloom along with the purple flags, pink flags and our white flags, with the peonies in buds along with the rose bushes. The birds sound really in tune with their songs of praise for the warmer weather. It was nice to open up the windows, but again they are closed and the heat is turned up again. My house plants are scream- ing to be set outside under the shade tree, but with temps falling, I have to tell them they will have to wait a few weeks more. Gov. Holcomb has given his five stages for Indiana citizens to interact with other citizens in our state and neighboring states. He has urged the Hoosiers who are 65 and over to re- main at home as much as possible and we all should continue social distanc- ing guidelines. Our second stage be- gan May 4 and stage 5 begins July 4. If you would like to know what dates you may pay bills, get license plates, pay taxes, shop and eat at business- es again, and gather with friends and family again, the information is in last week's paper. We will also have to see how these stages go and we have been informed that Pike County, on May 1, had their second case of COVID-19. Gibson County has seven cases. There are two more testing stations set up in our area and the one we have heard about is in Jasper at the Nation- al Guard Armory, with results in 48 hours. The other site is in Vincennes. You must qualify with symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has coronavirus in order to be tested, then an appointment will be made. Winslow's Youth Baseball League will start the 12U team on June 14, but no T-ball or 10U, because of the dis- tancing. Stay safe and have fun. cemetery We are in need of donations.
