The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, August 21, 2019 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY Continued in next column Continued from page 2 Wesleyan able for your sins. The morning scripture lesson covered the deep subject of being evil. Are all sins evil? That is the question we attempted to answer. We agreed with one another that sins have to be repented of but the sins that intentionally hurt another either physical- ly or emotionally are evils that come from people who cannot exercise self con- trol or who don't even real- ize that what they are doing is wrong. Be careful with the word evil because even though all sin hurts others most don't mean to hurt. The devil delights in us do- ing evil so let's overcome by filling our lives with God so He can have all of our atten- tion and devotion. It's not impossible to start each day with "God deliver me from evil and temptation." Start now by being a blessing and accept all God's blessings. I felt it shatter and I broke (in a good way). The wall that I had used to protect myself, was also a wall that limited God's access to my inner be- ing. I had protected myself against people, their hurt- ful words, disappointment and judgment. But I had al- so walled myself up from al- lowing God to move in me to heal my emotional wounds. That wall crumbled in a sec- ond and I felt lighter and fre- er than I had in years. It was amazing. I soon learned that with- out that wall I could be hurt deeply by people's com- ments. Pain that went deep- er than it could in the past because that wall was no longer there. In that time of deep hurt, God came in and loved on me and told me that He is my strong tower. He is my defender. He'll fight my battles and He will pro- tect me. It's no longer my job. There is amazing free- dom to love others without fear of being hurt. We can choose to live our life ruled by our flesh and doing things the way we've always done them, or we can step out in faith and allow the Spirit of God to create in us a new be- ginning (Isaiah 43:18 -19). But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. ZOAR U.M. CHURCH 8818 W.
