GLC-09973-12 N293 309 W. Pike Ave., Petersburg Thompson arrested on domestic battery charges By Andy Heuring A rural Petersburg man was arrested Thursday on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a child and strangulation, both lev- el 6 felonies, as well as crim- inal confinement and intim- idation, which are both lev- el 5 felonies. Dustin Thompson, 38, of 6344 N. SR 57, Petersburg, was arrested by Sheriff's Sgt. Buck Seger and Pe- tersburg Patrolman Scott Arnold. Sgt. Seger said at about 8:10 p.m. he was driving on Main St. and was stopped by a motorist who told him a woman was being assault- ed and screaming for help at the CVS store parking lot in Petersburg. Seger said he was unable to locate the blue vehicle re- ported to him. Then about two hours lat- er, Kristopher McDonald called the Sheriff's Depart- ment and reported that Day- sha Muse had been assault- ed and was at his sister's house. Muse was afraid to report it because she was afraid of Thompson. When police talked with Muse, she told them she and Thompson had been arguing at his mother's res- idence. Then they drove to CVS to get a movie from the Red Box vending machine. But they continued to ar- gue and Thompson hit her in the face with his fist re- peatedly. She said she start- ed yelling for help, and he grabbed her by the neck and held her down, choking her so she couldn't yell and peo- ple couldn't see her. Muse said she dug her fin- gernails into his neck and was able to get away and jumped in the backseat. In Seger's report, Muse claimed Thompson threat- ened to wreck the car and kill her and their child, who was also in the car. She said she eventually convinced Thompson to drive to his mother's house. Muse said when Thompson got out of the car, she drove away and hid the car, and then went to a friend's house so he couldn't find her. Seger's report stated Muse had swollen lips and remnants of blood still in her mouth. Sgt. Seger said Pe- tersburg Sgt. Chad McClel- lan and Patrolman Scott Ar- nold went to Thompson's residence and asked what happened. He said, "I got beat up." They said he had scratch- es on his neck and red marks on his hands. He told police Muse had scratched his hand and struck him in the face while they were in the CVS parking lot. He was placed in hand- cuffs and taken into custody.
