The interest is of- ten extremely high and it compounds quickly. We are like most families and have a credit card which when we use it, we do our best to clear it before any interest is allowed to amass. Many times by using your credit card you can actually save money with some compa- ny's offering discounts to put it on charge. So do it and pay it off quickly and you have saved money just don't let it ride. Our local Lions club had their monthly meet- ing last Thursday and it was business as usual un- til we heard from our guest speaker. He brought us a very informative presenta- tion about Cancer Control and how our funds for this project are being used. He then gave a presentation concerning "Liberty Day" which gives school chil- dren a presentation on the history of our constitution and our five freedoms. It is amazing how many ques- tions can be asked about our constitutional free- doms and you think you know them, but are so wrong. It is an eye opener and even the adults who have seen this project present- ed have learned more about our government. Perhaps there may be enough in- terest to get a presentation for our adults. We'll see if maybe the library would be interested in this presenta- tion. Our presenter was Bill Willis from French Lick and he would be a good pre- senter for this project. Well it is time to do a lit- tle complaining about the weather because it has been some time where our weather has been so con- fused. We even had to turn our furnace back on be- cause the house was too cool for our three-month- old granddaughter. Has anybody got any ideas what is going on with our weath- er? I have not got any idea but, I wish it would at least line up with one season or another. Our Sunday school les- son was about being selfish and using selflessness as a means to take advantage of others. It was explained how being selfish leads to being greedy which is pre- cursor to sin. Be yourself and love one another in- stead of using one another. The scripture lesson concerned being insecure and how to combat it with God's word. One of the def- initions of insecurity is a lack of confidence and it af- fects each of us at one time or another. Never forget you can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. God has provided a suit of ar- mor to wear in defense of this world and their opin- ions and the only opinion that should matter is what does God think of me. The world will always look at the physical while God sees the heart of peo- ple. So be yourself. Live your life for God and with God and worry less what others think of you. Their opinion won't matter as long as God's will. Well enough for now re- member to go out and show God's love in your life. Independent Independent CHRISTIAN HOLINESS CHURCH 1252 St. Rd. 57 S. He will not leave you or forsake you." (Deu- teronomy 31:6, NIV ). There are a lot of things in this life that make us feel as though we just can't do it, or go on anymore. This verse helps us remember that God is always with us and will nev- er leave us. Taking this with you every day will help, but prayer will too. I once heard a radio preacher talk about emergency prayers and how they could be one of our most powerful tools. An emergen- cy prayer is when something happens or you just need help that instant. In reaction, you call out to God as if you are talking to him, like he is right there with you. In doing so, you are breaking that barrier that God is way up there, and we are down here, making a way for God to work and live more in your life. Use this tool and remember he is al- ways with you and will nev- er leave you. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all ser- vices. Come and worship Je- sus with us. The amplified version of II Samuel 5:10 says, "David became greater and great- er, for the Lord, the God of hosts (armies), was with him." Just like David, we can become greater and great- er, if we have a relationship with God and remain in His will. God wants us to grow. The more we allow the Spir- it to work in our lives, the closer our relationship with God. And the closer our re- lationship, the more we will want the Spirit to work in our lives. This doesn't mean we won't have trials and hard- ships. God just allows us to see them as character build- ers, molding us into the im- age of His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. If someone claims, "I love God," but hates his brother or sister, then he is a liar. "A real Christian is an odd number. He feels supreme love for One whom he has never seen. He talks famil- iarly every day to someone he cannot see, expects to go to heaven on the virtue of another, empties himself that he might be full, admits he is wrong so he can be de- clared right, goes down in or- der to get up. He is strongest when he is weakest, richest when he is poorest. He dies so he can live, forsakes in order to have, gives away so he can keep, sees the in- visible, hears the inaudible, and knows that which pass- es knowledge"—A. W. Tozer.
