C-2 Church Wednesday, June 19, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued in next column Continued from page 1 What is a house without a dog? It's like a fire with- out a log. No warmth, no spark, no welcoming bark. It's just not a home without a dog. This week, PAWS is featuring a clever, young gal named Emma, who is an energetic Border Col- lie who needs a country home with room to run or an active owner who will take her on lots of walks and excursions. She is ap- proximately two years old, very loving, housebroken, walks well on a leash, has smooth, short fur that is black and white, appears to bond easily to anyone giv- ing her attention and she gets along well with other dogs and cats. You can adopt Emma by calling 812-354-9894. Behold, we count them happy which endure. We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribula- tion worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed; be- cause the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. No chastening for the present seemeth to be joy- ous, but grievous: neverthe- less afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteous- ness unto them which are exercised thereby. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into div- ers temptations; knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. NEW LIBERTY G.B. CHURCH (Coe) 1820 S. Co Rd. 800 S. It will be July 8 -12, at 6:30 p.m. James Chapter 4:1-12: Drawing Close to God 4 "What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don't they come from the evil desires at war with- in you? 2 You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don't have what you want be- cause you don't ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. 4 You adulterers![a] Don't you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make your- self an enemy of God. 5 Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him.[b] 6 And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."[c] 7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the dev- il, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; pu- rify your hearts, for your loy- alty is divided between God and the world. 9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. Warning against Judging Others 11 Don't speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters.[d] If you criti- cize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God's law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you. 12 God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor? Our Mission Statement: Loving the 99, always look- ing for the one. Gary Pancake, Pastor Chris McLaughlin, Re- porter Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall re- ceive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. . . . For when I am weak, then am I strong. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free and join us for services. I am sure you will leave be- ing blessed. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sun- day school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Supper at 10 :30 a.m. This last Sunday was Fa- ther's day, and like Moth- er's day it is a great time that we have to celebrate some wonderful parents in our lives. Some of us are left to remember the parents we had as they have gone on from this life. Howev- er, one thing is for certain that we see now more than ever, many young people around us have lacked good parents, especially good fa- thers. The home life now more than ever lacks the pres- ence of good and strong male leadership and influ- ence, and many young men are left growing up without father all together. Now more than ever we need men who will step up to be good fathers. Men who an- swer Jesus' call to carry their cross, and show those who grow around them how to do the same. Who will be strong men of God, and lead others in doing that. We have a heavenly fa- ther who has given us more than we could ever ask for or imagine, and given us the ability to lead and influ- ence others to experience the same. Let us pray this year that more men would answer the call to not on- ly be fathers but be spiritu- al fathers in place of those who are without a father at all. And pray that a genera- tion would rise to fill in the gaps that we miss now. Everyone welcome. DJ Bryant, Pastor VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E.
