So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. The Bible speaks of the sin that easily besets us. We are not tempted to sin by the same things. Samson was a great man and God used him but he had a weakness, a temptation he was not good at controlling. Philistine women. He couldn't seem to stay away from them. I think the moral of this story would be—Don't keep visiting your temptation (sin), eventually it will blind you. God's blessings on you this week. Ron Vickers, Pastor Elaine Young, Reporter, 1- 812-749 -1122 (leave a mes- sage). MAIN STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 10th and Main Streets, Petersburg 812-354-6844 Sunday worship 10 :30 a.m.; Youth group Monday evening at 6 p.m. Come vis- it us. Our doors are always open to you. Maundy Thursday What is Maundy Thurs- day, the Thursday of Holy Week all about? The word "Maundy" is a shortened version of the Latin word mandatum, which means commandment. At the Last Supper, Jesus gave his friends a new com- mandment. He told the disci- ples, "I give you a new com- mandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another" ( John 13:34, NRSV ). As Christians gather to eat and share Holy Com- munion on Maundy Thurs- day, we should make a spe- cial effort to exhibit our love and respect for one an- other. Let us seek out peo- ple whom we don't natural- ly have affection for and ex- press our wish that the liv- ing Christ may dwell in them and bless them. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Richard Comer, Pastor en's Bible study at the fellow- ship hall 10 a.m. God's Blessings The man whispered "God, speak to me" and a meadow- lark sang. But the man did not hear. So the man yelled "God speak to me." And the thunder rolled across the sky. But the man did not lis- ten. The man looked around and said "God let me see you" and a star shone bright- ly. But the man did not no- tice. And the man shouted "God show me a miracle" and a life was born. But the man did not know. So, the man cried out in despair. "Touch me God and let me know that you are here." Whereupon God reached down and touched the man. But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on. Moral: Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged the way you ex- pect. We invite all of you to come and worship with us.
