If you want to say "hi" to everyone or wish to share a vacation or trip, the address is Sweets Column, Winslow, IN 47598. The Patoka River is over its banks as of Sunday morning and more rain, sleet and maybe other stuff are still coming, but last week into the weekend we had 60 degree weather. Most of the snow melted that was piled up in yards and driveways. Saturday night was eyes on the sky to try to see why the sirens in town sounded for a tornado watch. Nothing happened in Winslow but rain and then the wind picked up with more rain all night long. We got up to more limbs down and a messy wet yard. I hope your week was alright and nothing drastic happened to all our stars. I forgot to tell everyone several weeks ago in Winslow, we all put our notes and columns in the door of the old Dispatch building, but now we have a mailbox at the end of the steps by the street. It is a nice mailbox with the printing on the side "Mail Drop Off Box PressDispatch." It's so convenient now cause we can drive up to the mailbox and not even have to get out of the vehicle. To the person who put the drop box up, I really appreciate the time you took to do this good deed for us to use each week. Last Wednesday, Norm, Vernon and I went to Evansville to eat and celebrate Karen Brossman's birthday. Her mother, Dagmar, was also in attendance. We all had a nice time catching up with what has gone on and we hope to get together again real soon. Karen says "hi" to all of Winslow. Girl Scout cookies sales end on Jan. 18. So give your order to a Girl Scout in your area before the week is up. Kyana got a purple guitar for Christmas from her Grandma Delores and Grandpa Don. Daniel fixed the heavy box it came in into a guitar case that she can carry places. Norm (PopPop) gave her a pick and some chords to play so she can practice and then she got a 20" pink bicycle that she needed. When Kyana sees what her PopPop got— a "Cry Baby Wah Wah" pedal for his guitar, she will want to try it out. Then there will be no peace in the neighborhood. Did you know it's a law to stop for school buses when the stop sign is out? Well, some in Pike County don't know what a stop sign is on a school bus or maybe they just don't care. However, the bus drivers are doing their job to keep the children safe, so other drivers should pay attention to the road and leave the cell phones alone. Save the precious lives of the school children and stop for school buses. It's the law! As the light begins to dim for this week, look out for your family and friends, slow down or leave early and see what the rest of the world looks like. Smile, wave and say "hi" to everyone this week. "Help one another." Doing a special halftime dance The Petersburg Elementary School cheerleaders, girls basketball team and a few fans joined together at halftime of the PES-Otwell fifth grade boys basketball game to perform a special dance together.
