I t 's that time of year again for crazy dress up days and lots of fun and games revolving around football. The dress up days for this past week were Monday as PJ day, Tuesday was USA day, Wednesday was Disney day, Thursday was all around the world day, and last but not least, Today is green and gold day. Make sure you've dressed up in as much green and gold attire as possible. The grade levels are competing to see who has the most school spirit this year. There's a rally today at the end of the school day and it is at the rally where they will announce the winners of spirit week. Usually the seniors are expected to win, but the sophomores have high hopes from their last win at the Hawaiian Rally. All grade levels are excited for the homecoming dance which is October 3rd and the whole school is getting pumped and excited for the dance. All four grade levels have also been building the best floats they're able to make and y e s t e r d a y was their last day of construction, decorating and any last minute touches they wanted to add. They judged the floats yesterday 15 minutes after they had finished building and the winning grade level is excited to have dominated the challenge and to have beaten the other three grade levels. They won't be letting the other grade levels live this one down for awhile. Student government was excited to be planning and decorating for homecoming and now that it's over they are sorry to say good bye and say it heavy heartedly. Mrs. Somavia and student government worked hard on homecoming and have enjoyed the majority of it, even if it became almost unbearably stressful. Yes, it was a handful, but they had fun and kept their heads up. Features Page 3 October 2, 2015 partan ound S off Sound Off/Britney Miranda Mr. Norton (Teacher) "Mighty Mouse for obvious reasons." So the real question is, what is 'homecoming'? Yes, it incudes a rally or parade, an athletic game of some sort, and a dance, but what exactly is this event? Homecoming is an important tradition for high schools and or colleges that is celebrated every year. As this week progressed, you may have already known or got a slight impression that today is homecoming. Maybe it was the kick- off assembly or the sight of your fellow classmates dressed up outrageously for the week, who knows, but homecoming is more than just a football game or a high school rally. Homecoming is where Red Bluff High School officially kicks off the year as a community. One of the main favorites of Red Bluff High School's Homecoming is the Homecoming rally. Along with our usual routine for the rallies, we will also be welcoming and recognizing the alumni, also known as Golden and Silver Grads of RBHS. Additions to this rally compared to the others are the Homecoming queen nominees performing for the school one last time, and the senior skit as well. Expect loud, or should I say "rowdy", students chanting for their class, and shaming our rival for this week just for our pure enjoyment. Football is known as the major sporting event that is held for every school campus' Homecoming. The Homecoming game is the most important event out of all in the majority of the school's point of view. Here at Red Bluff High's football game, everybody will be able to experience their student section just go flat out crazy, and yes, that is possible here in Red Bluff. No doubt will there be an abundance of Red Bluff Rowdies filling up the student section cheering for their team together. Homecoming for every school across the nation is the one event where not only the whole school but the whole community comes together to show support for their school. Everyone comes together to celebrate the beginning of the year, but to save you from the mushy- gushy details, I'll end this with a note that homecoming is an event where every student must experience at least once, so get involved in Red Bluff High's Homecoming. Traditions: Homecoming Fair time is fun time in Red Buff. Fair is a time of year when all can relax and enjoy some good food, good friends, good music, good rides, and even possibly buy some animals. There's many things for everyone to do at fair. There is nearly something for everyone to do. Fair is a stressful time of year especially for the kids in FFA. They get to show their animals and sell them and make money from sales. Fair seems to be the time of year where everyone is stressed, but after it has started some seem to calm down. These kids work hard all year around. Although it all pulls off, it is still a very worrying time. There were plenty of rides there too. Some of these rides include: The Zipper, The Drop, The Ferris Wheel, The Tilt-A-Whirl, and more. There were also rides for younger kids as well. There was a Dragon Tales themed ride that most kids seemed to love. Fair food is another favorite for some people. There were tons of different types of food, such as, funnel cakes, kettle corn, giant corndogs, blocks of french fries, hamburgers, lemonade, but they're also extremely expensive. There are also little kiosks set up near the food places. These sold bracelets, shirts, belts, purses, hair accessories, f lags, airbrushing clothing, and accessories. All around the fair, there were people laughing and having a good time. Some were even selling tractors. There was a Ford booth where the public could enter and possibly win a Ford vehicle. Fair games are always a favorite too. There was a ring toss, a bean bag toss, a fish bowl toss, water ballon filling, darts, knock over milk bottles, and a basketball toss. At these games you can win all kinds of prizes, such as, big stuffed animals, little stuffed animals, balls, candy, and even real live fish. Fair seemed to be a big success this year. There was also something called a tractor pull. Kids work on these tractors all year and they drive them around this small dirt track and show them off. They were having little concerts where these two girls were dancing and singing and bringing little kids up on stage to dance and sing and have fun with them. No matter what, they were having fun and bringing everyone else into their fun too. There was a building full of cakes and clothing. Another full of building blocks and toys for children. There was something for everyone who went. Any one person could find something that they enjoyed. It also wasn't too hot outside which made it that much more enojyable. Dress up days Float construction Red Bluff High School's FFA is a flourishing program, with many opportunities.
