SEE NEXT WEEK'S PAPER FOR THE REMAINING TEAMS HFOOTBALL Continued from page B-3 was sacked for a seven-yard loss by Sisk. Two plays later, on 3rdand-16 from the North Knox 37, Sisk knocked the ball out of Tromley's hand as he drew it back to pass. Alvey then picked up the loose ball and returned it to the Warriors' 9-yard line. Four plays later, Boger scored on a one-yard run. While Boger's two-point conversion pass to Zach Pancake fell incomplete, the Chargers had a 20-0 lead with 7:56 left in the second period. The score remained unchanged until late in the first half, when North Knox elected to go for it on 4th-and-16 from their own 41-yard line. However, Sisk penetrated quickly into the backfield and literally took the pitch from Warriors quarterback HSPLIT Continued from page B-3 them," Chestnut continued. "It's very important to not let the mistakes get in the way. You have to shake them off and know that the next time the ball comes to you, you're going to make a great pass to the setter and get the next point back for your team." Brook Nalley had two set assists, while Shelbi Pipes had one ace serve. Hannah Mills added one dig and two blocks. Morgan Whann had a pair of digs, while Sorguis had one ace serve, one kill and three digs. "These girls have so much talent," Chestnut added. "We just have to get the commu- Nick Merry before racing 30 yards into the end zone. "I've coached him, off and on, from like third grade on," Howald said of Sisk. "He'll always give you all he's got, and that's a dream come true for him." Alvey's two-point conversion run was good, extending Pike Central's lead to 28-0 with 8.7 seconds left in the first half. The Chargers scored early in the third quarter when Doninger returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown. Boger's two-point conversion pass to Pancake was good, giving Pike Central a 36-0 lead with 5:20 remaining in the period. North Knox put together its best offensive series on its next possession as the Chargers began freely substituting, driving from its own 32-yard line to Pike Central's 35, before a fumble by Merry was recovered by Pancake on the last play of the third quarter. After the Chargers were flagged for a false start penalty, Alvey broke free for a 63-yard touchdown run, extending Pike Central's lead to 42-0 with 7:15 left in the game. The Warriors had their best scoring opportunity in the game's final minute, but on 1st-and-goal at the Chargers' 6-yard line a pass by Prince Washington was picked off by Alvey with 17.9 seconds remaining. In addition to Alvey's 130 yards on eight carries, Jermia Greer gained nine yards on four rushing attempts while Payton Simmons picked up five yards on five tries. Sisk ran for one yard on one carry and Boger, who attempted one just pass, which was incomplete, ran three times for minus-1 yard. "I think we're going to move the ball well against anybody," Howald said. "Our offensive line is big enough and strong enough and talented enough to do that. As long as we keep our heads and stay mentally focused, we're going to be just fine against just about anybody, I would say." In the seventh grade contest, North Knox shut out Pike Central 48-0. "The score didn't look like it, but we played a lot better," said Howald. "We've still got a ways to go there but we played a lot better than what we did as far as intensity and stuff. So they're starting to figure things out a little bit." The Chargers return home to Weathers Field on Thursday, Sept. 12, when they will host Gibson Southern. "Conference play starts next week, against Gibson Southern," Howald said. "They're going to be tough. They're typically a hardhitting team, so if we match that, we'll be fine."
