"Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Je- sus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]. For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Je- sus [the law of our new be- ing] has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do [that is, overcome sin and remove its penalty, its pow- er] being weakened by the flesh [man's nature with- out the Holy Spirit], God did: He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful man as an offering for sin. And He condemned sin in the flesh [subdued it and overcame it in the person of His own Son], so that the [righteous and just] requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not live our lives in the ways of the flesh [guided by worldliness and our sinful nature], but [live our lives] in the ways of the Spirit [guid- ed by His power]. For those who are living according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh [which gratify the body], but those who are living according to the Spirit, [set their minds on] the things of the Spirit [His will and purpose]" (Ro- mans 8:1-5 AMP). This week PAWS is fea- turing a bouncing young beagle named Spirit, who truly lives up to her name. She is always enthused about whatever is going on at PAWS. She is tri-col- ored, black, brown and white, has a friendly dis- position, almost appears to be dancing when she greats volunteers as she prances about, wanting all to notice. She is approx- imately one-year-old. She is gregarious to everyone she meets, and she wants to be in the middle of what- ever is happening in the dog yard or puppy room, where she stays at PAWS. Spirit can be reserved by calling 812-354-9894. Gary had a wonderful message from John 17:1-3 about how we should know God. We should try to be so close to our Savior that we should know Him better than any- one else. We miss Ruby and hope to see her soon. We send our sympathies to the Brian Arnold fami- ly and the Bill Wire family. Keep them in your prayers. We will start back with our prayer services on Wednes- day evenings. Everyone is welcome. Remember those on our prayer list, the shut-ins and our lost loved ones. Is snow a nuisance? Or is it something for which we ought to thank God? The glistening white of new fallen snow pictures heavenly glory and puri- ty. But how great is our God to provide for us an op- portunity for purity also. "Come now, and let us rea- son together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scar- let, they shall be white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18). Seeking God's purpose for your life is a daily activ- ity, like waking, showering, dressing, eating breakfast and brushing your teeth in the morning. Developing a deep relationship with God takes repeated and daily ef- forts. It's never finished. Make a decision to connect with God, stay close to him, and be receptive to His lead- ership. When you talk to God and follow him each day, your walk in faith becomes a nat- ural and loved part of your life. You understand and ap- preciate Jesus' resurrection and know that He is alive and working vibrantly in your life. Resurect Him dai- ly and know true friendship with God. Hope, Today and Tomorrow "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ( Jeremiah 29:11, NIV ). Well we have officially started a new year and the first step is always the hard- est, they say. The scripture for this week is one that was given to me during a rough time in my life, by some- one very important to me. This is one of the most pow- erful scriptures that I keep in my "Brain Bank" to help me tackle every day with confidence. Just knowing that God has plans for you that are good and are not in the mind set of hurting you makes most sigh in relief. The greatest thing though is the hope for a future. This is the most precious gift known to man. God gave us Jesus (hope) so that one day we may live with him free from sickness, worry and death. When you feel down or like nothing is ever going right for you, remember Jer- emiah 29:11 and have hope for today and tomorrow. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all services.
