It's very easy to get into a routine of praying for your own, while often for- getting, there are many oth- ers who need prayer as well. It isn't as if the Lord doesn't know where every- one is and what is taking place; He does. But calling out the names of Churches, pastors, ministers and those you know is important. Praying is wonderful and needful, and is required if we are to stay in contact with Christ. He has given us this wonderful privilege to use and He expects His UNION COMMUNITY CHURCH 3082 N. "What can you do?" Paul Smith (1921-2007) dug deep to summon incred- ible gifts of creativity and perseverance. Born with se- vere cerebral palsy, he start- ed making art at age 11 on an old typewriter. Steady- ing one hand with the oth- er so he could use one fin- ger to make one deliberate keystroke at a time, he typed symbols, such as # and @, using a black or colored rib- bon. In this painstaking way, he "painted" stunningly de- tailed pictures. In a T V report from 2004 (search "Typewriter Artist" on YouTube), a friend says Smith found joy in being creative, and saw that as his life's purpose. When some- one would say, "I could nev- er do that," the artist would answer, "What can you do? " Whatever our challenges, God has given us all gifts to share with the world. Per- haps you can't "paint" pic- tures with a typewriter... but what can you do? Do it! Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. This particu- lar Sunday afternoon, it was very cold outside as well as pouring down rain, but the boy felt led to go. The boy walked the streets of the town, hand- ing everybody he met in the street a Gospel tract. One tract left, he went to one last home and rang the door bell, but nobody answered. He rang it again and again, but still no answered. Finally the door slowly opened and the little boy said, "I just want to tell you that Jesus really does love you and I came to PETERSBURG WESLEYAN CHURCH 9th and McCoy, Petersburg Pastor 812-632-0773 Sunday morning worship 10 :30 a.m. You are invited to worship with us. Richard Comer, Pastor give you my very last Gos- pel tract, which will tell you all about Jesus and His great love." The following Sunday morning during church, an elderly lady stood to her feet. She said, before last Sunday, I was not a Christian. My husband passed on some time ago, leaving me total- ly alone in this world. Last Sunday, being a particular- ly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart as I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live. "I took a rope and a chair and fastened the rope se- curely to a rafter in the roof, then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck and was about to leap off, when suddenly, the loud ringing of the doorbell startled me. I thought, 'I'll wait a min- ute, and whoever it is will go away.' I waited and wait- ed, but the ringing door- bell seemed to get more in- sistent. I loosened the rope from my neck and start- ed for the front door. When I opened the door, there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic lit- tle boy I had ever seen in my life. He said, 'Ma'am, I just came to tell you that Jesus really does love you.' I came to church this morning to personally say, 'Thank you to God's little angel. There may be someone, reading this, who is also go- ing through a dark, cold and lonely time in your life. You may be a Christian, for we are not without problems, or you may not yet know the Lord. Whatever the case, and whatever the problem or situation you find yourself in, and no matter how dark it may seem, know that, "Jesus really does love you." We invite all of you to come and worship with us. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter
