Each of these positions have been vacant for several months and are vital parts of the leadership team for Cleveland County. Chief Financial Offi cer - Cleveland Coun- ty Government is excited to welcome Shane Fox into the role of Chief Financial Offi cer. The Chief Finan- cial Offi cer is responsible for the fi nancial direction of the county and shares departmental management responsibilities with the Assistant County Manager. The Chief Financial Offi cer will have an inter- nal department focus while Assistant County Manager Kerri Melton will continue to have an external community focus. Mr. Fox was select- ed by an internal interview panel comprised of twelve county department heads following a multi-phase interview process that included technical assessments, long term planning models, and a comprehensive presentation on the fi nancial position of Cleveland County. Mr. Fox currently serves as the Executive Director of the High-Country Counsel of Gov- ernment in Boone, NC. Shane graduated from Appalachian State University with a de- gree in Accounting. He has over fi fteen years of experience in local government fi nance including auditing, fi nancial reporting and ex- ecutive management. Shane is familiar with Cleveland County Government having worked as the Assistant Finance Director as recently as 2016 and served as the County's external auditor several years prior to that. He will be moving to Cleveland County with his wife, two sons and daughter. Shane will begin with Cleveland County on April 16, 2018. Senior Staff Attorney – Cleveland County Government is excited to welcome Elliott Engstrom in the role of Senior Staff At- torney. Elliott graduated with an undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and graduated from the Uni- versity of Georgia School of Law. Mr. Engstrom is cur- rently a professor of law at Elon University. His past practitioner expe- rience includes several fi rms in the Raleigh area and he comes very highly regarded. Elliott was identifi ed as the top candidate by the interview panel after nearly eight months of interviews. His foundational knowledge and experience in local government law and ad- ministration have prepared him to be effective in his new role. Elliott will be moving to Cleve- land County with his wife and infant child. His fi rst day of employment will be June 1, 2018. LeGrand Center Executive Director - Cleveland County Government is excited to welcome Jason Falls in the role of LeGrand Center Executive Director. Jason graduated from Cleveland Community College with an Associate's degree in Busi- ness Administration and served in the United States Air Force. Jason was iden- tifi ed as the top candidate following a techni- cal marketing assessment and a multi-round interview process that included both external and internal interviewers. The interview pan- els focused on management skills, sales and marketing, and local government administra- tion. Mr. Falls experience includes ten years of managing a growing business. Jason Falls brings a deep knowledge of local government operations as well as established relation- ships with the business community through his seven years as a Cleveland County Com- missioner. Mr. Fall's career sales experience along with offi ce administration and project management knowledge will position the LeGrand Center for long-term success. Jason currently lives in Cleveland County with his wife and two children. His fi rst day of employ- ment was April 2, 2018. Senior Budget Analyst – Cleveland Coun- ty Government is excited to welcome Tracy Barrett in the role of Senior Budget Analyst. Ms. Barrett grad- uated from Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Tracy has served as the Finance Director for the Town of Bel- mont, the Assistant Comp- troller of St. Luke's Hospital, and most cur- rently in a leadership role at Gaston College. The Senior Budget Analyst is lead budget and accounting offi cer for our Public Health Cen- ter. Ms. Barrett's past experiences will serve her well in this position. Tracy was identifi ed as the top candidate by the interview panel following a multi-step interview process, that included several technical assessments. Tracy currently lives in upper Cleveland County and began work on March 16, 2018.
