The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, September 28, 2012 10 Bakes") that was inspired by the similarly titled, best-selling book. Fans will remember Stew- Cooking this week A/Otsego Manor 2 x 3 Martha Stewart series PBS preps new TV Media S ay what you will about Martha Stewart, but you've got to admire her tenacity and resilience. Back in January, mere days into the new year, Hallmark an- nounced that it was canceling her daytime series, "Martha." Citing high production costs and low ratings, the cable sta- tion opted to wrap up produc- tion in April and air reruns up until this week's debut of "Home and Family" and "Ma- rie." art's previous PBS project, "Ev- eryday Food" and its compan- ion series "Everyday Baking From Everyday Food." But Stewart was the producer on that series, which featured a few of her staff members, in- cluding Lucinda Scala Quinn (of Hallmark's "Mad Hungry"). In this series, however, Stewart is both host and teacher. The new half-hour series aims to introduce or re-exam- ine master culinary techniques to home cooks, regardless of their skill set. Whether it's se- lecting the best ingredients possible, whipping up perfect staple sauces or learning butchering techniques to save money, Martha is ready to show you how to do it -- and do it right. In an April news release, "Martha Stewart's Cooking School" will debut on PBS orations -- some online, and one that will maintain her high-profile television pres- ence. And when you factor in her magazine's reduced ad reve- nue and a marked decrease in her company's share values, things might appear bleak for the lifestyle maven (at least from a business perspective). Not so, it seems. Stewart and her media empire are moving forward with some new collab- public TV, Stewart is prepping to move (back) into Julia Child's former home with a new weekly series titled "Mar- tha Stewart's Cooking School." Set to debut the first weekend of October on PBS stations (check local listings), the series is a back-to-basics move of sorts (not unlike "Martha In a big move from cable to Stewart deemed PBS to be "the perfect home for this se- ries," adding, "this new series combines so many of my pas- sions: teaching and encourag- ing others." Stewart has also found an online outlet outside of Mar- thaStewart.com. On Sept. 10, Hulu and Hulu Plus launched The Martha Stewart Network as an online source for ar- chived videos of several series within the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia empire, in- cluding "Martha's Kitchen," "Emeril's Table" and "DIY Crafts." Meanwhile, YouTube has been featuring the daily video series "Everyday Food With Sarah Carey," which keeps the "Everyday Food" concept going strong with new menu ideas from the food editor of "Martha Stew- art Living."
