B-2 Sports Wednesday, June 21, 2017 The Press-Dispatch SPORTS BRIEFS Clinic for youth soccer coaches to be held Saturday A coaches clinic will be held at the Pike Coun- ty Youth Soccer League field in Otwell on Satur- day, June 24, at 9:30 a.m. The clinic, which will be conducted by the Pike Central High School boys' soccer team, is for anyone who is interested in being a coach this fall. PCMS boys' tennis team to begin practicing July 6 The Pike Central Mid- dle School boys' tennis team will hold its first practice on Thursday, July 6, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the high school courts. Subsequent practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Students interested in playing must have a phys- ical on file with the school or come to practice with a completed physical form. Lady Charger Basketball Camp set for June 26-29 Girls who will be enter- ing third through eighth grades this fall will have a chance to improve their skills and learn more about basketball during the Lady Chargers Bas- ketball Camp, which will be held from Monday, June 26, through Thurs- day, June 29, at Peters- burg Elementary School. Pike Central High School head coach Kyle McCutchan and his staff will be conducting two separate camps. The first will be for incoming 3rd through 5th graders from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. The second will be for incom- ing 6th through 8th grad- ers from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. The cost is $20 per play- er, or $ 35 for two players, and includes a camp t- shirt. Forms are available at each school's office. Completed registra- tion forms, along with checks made payable to Kyle McCutchan, should be mailed to: Kyle Mc- Cutchan, 410 S. 8th St., Pe- tersburg, IN 47567. Please be sure to note each play- er's incoming grade and their shirt size. Pike Central Chargers to host soccer camp June 23 The Pike Central Char- gers soccer coaching staff and players will be host- ing a one-day camp on Friday, June 23, for boys and girls age four through those who will be entering eighth grade this fall. The camp will be held at the Petersburg Elementary School soccer fields. Session 1 – from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. – will be for boys and girls ages four through fourth grade. Session 2 – from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. – will be for boys and girls fifth through eighth grade. The registration fee is $20 per player. A camp t- shirt will be provided to those who were pre-reg- istered by Monday, June 5. Registration will also be conducted the day of the camp, but no camp t-shirts will be provided. Completed registration forms, along with checks made payable to "PC Boys Soccer," should be mailed to Amanda How- ald, 941 South State Road 61, Winslow, IN 47598. All players attending the clinic should arrive with shinguards and a wa- ter bottle, as well as their own soccer ball. For more information, or to obtain a registration form, call (812) 789 -3312. DistinXion to offer two-day camp at Pike Central DistinXion, a non-prof- it organization founded by Washington's Zeller family, will be conduct- ing a three-day DistinX- ion Camp Xperience at Pike Central High School on Monday, July 31, and Tuesday, August 1, for boys and girls who will be entering grades two through eight in the 2017- 18 school year. The registration fee for the camp, which fo- cuses on elite basketball and character training, is $ 89. DistinXion is a non-prof- it organization founded by the Zeller family as a way to provide elite bas- ketball and cheerleading training, while also build- ing family relationships through character train- ing. DistinXion is dedicat- ed to not only developing better athletes, but better people and stronger fam- ilies through summer camps, private training, speaking engagements, and tournaments. DistinXion's staff and volunteers are dedicated to serving communities around the country with one mission in mind: to make a positive impact on the athletic culture by building up families and developing positive char- acter in young athletes. The Zeller brothers – Luke, Tyler and Cody – participate in DistinXion events only as their sched- ules permit. Youth Day is October 14 The 12th Annual Pike County Bird Hunter's Club NR A Youth Day is Saturday, October 14, so mark your calenders for a day of outdoor activity. The event begins at 8 a.m. EST with sign in, break- fast and then a choice for youth of BB gun shoot- ing, darts, 22 rifle, muz- zle loading, archery, trap shooting or Chukar hunt- ing over dogs. A fter a day of activities for youngsters and their family, a search and res- cue demonstration will be presented. That is fol- lowed by a random draw- ing will take place for more than a dozen priz- es including Remington 1187 and 870 shotguns, Ruger 22 rifles and Bear archery sets. All youth ages seven to 18 are welcome and are provided breakfast and lunch. Do not bring any firearms. Twelve gauge, 20 gauge, 410 and 22 shells are provided by the club, the NR A and lo- cal sponsors. Parents are welcome and can enjoy breakfast and lunch for a donation. All 4-H shoot- ing sports, boy and girl scouts and all other inter- ested youth are welcome. A hunter education card is required for Chukar hunt- ing. The first 50 youth to register will receive a free T-shirt. The club is located be- tween Oakland City and Petersburg about two miles west of SR 57 at Di- vision Road. Signs will be posted. The five- and six-year-old T-ball players on the No. 423 Smokehouse team took the ride through Pe- tersburg on their way to the Petersburg Little League ballfield this past Saturday. The Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 3587 lead the Petersburg Little League Parade on Saturday with flag bearers Ed Shoultz and Reno Richard- son. Little League game balls were handed out at the ballfield to players following Saturday's Pe- tersburg Little League Parade.
