TGIF 2017 will feature not one, but TWO acts each Friday night! Prior to the main performance, talented up and coming artists from Morganton, NC and surrounding communities will kick-off each concert during the 7 o'clock hour. The opening acts are competing for a $500 prize plus the opportunity to perform at the Historic Morganton Festival this September. Performers will be judged based on three categories - quali- ty of performance, crowd attendance during the performance, and stage presence. The winner will be announced by August 4, 2017. Main acts will play from 8:00-10:00pm following the opening acts. So, be sure to bring a chair or blanket and head to the Historic Courthouse Square Friday nights through July and enjoy the free weekly concerts. A selection of local food vendors open at 6:00 pm and there will be a wide variety of beer and wine options available. All are welcome to dance the night away to a variety of music entertainment from 7:00-10:00pm. TGIF is the place to be on Friday nights. We are ready for a great season! Are you? Downtown Morganton TGIF Free Friday Night Summer Concerts to feature two acts Cleveland County Library and Google to host workshop The fi rst week of May is National Small Business Week, and the Cleveland County Library System (CCLS), a Google Of- fi cial City Partner, will host a workshop on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 6:00-7:30pm to help local businesses claim their free Google verifi ed business listings. The event is part of a national drive by Google during Small Business Week to help local business owners claim their free listings. Four out of fi ve people use Google to fi nd local businesses, and verifi ed busi- nesses are twice as likely to be considered reputable by per- spective customers. Additionally, with a verifi ed Google busi- ness listing, local businesses are "search engine optimized," meaning that, when someone searches for a general type of business, or for a specifi c business name, verifi ed businesses appear at the top of the search results. In 2017 Google be- gan the process of removing unverifi ed businesses from their search results and from Google Maps, so getting your busi- ness verifi ed is more important than ever. Workshop participants will need to know the Gmail account address and password associated with their business (if you do not already have a Gmail address, one will be created at the workshop), the businesses' hours of operation, physical address, phone number, and bring a fl ash drive with photos of their business (logos, exterior, products, etc.) to add to their verifi ed listing. To be verifi ed instantly, participants should also bring one of the following: a utility bill for the business, tax let- ter, or business registration certifi cate. To register for a work- shop, call Cleveland Memorial Library at 704-487-9069, or register online at http://ccml.libguides.com/home/gybo. If unable to attend the workshop, or for more information about Google's free, Verifi ed Local Business Listings, busi- ness owners should call Ensley Guffey or Sarah Ross at Cleveland County Memorial Library at 704-487-9069, ext. 238.
