Classic 704-484-1047 704-484-1047 1334 N. Post Rd. (Hwy. 180 N.) SHELBY, NC Lamp Brett Elliott has primary progressive Muscular Dystrophy, a group of inherited disorders that involve muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue. He has difficulty walking and keeping stable. He lives with this day and night. However, it does not stop Brett Elliott from displaying his amazing creativity. His card reads "Brett's Art On A Stick!" This is because he patiently carves char- acters on canes, staffs, and walking sticks. His talent for this is awesome. Birds, animals, and even a self portrait are a few of his subjects. Thus far, he has carved and signed 110 pieces. If you spend some time with Brett, you will also discover his great talent in photography. He captures magnificent photos of nature, especially birds. His photos are definitely works of art. When I asked him if his physical condition depresses him, his answer was very positive. "I'm lucky to see things that most people don't see and also fortunate to do things others normally would not have time to do. As far as my health, there's always someone worse off than I am. I'm a lucky man." Some of his photography is posted at: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ myshot/gallery/109028#. It is very reflective of his talent. Brett Elliott lives in Fallston, is a graduate of Burns High School and has been –M. A. Andrews married to his wife, Vickie for 39 years. They have one son, Ryan, who is majoring in biology at North Carolina State University. Brett Elliott is definitely a great talent among us.
