Page 4 September 30, 2016 Aly Smith Staff Writer Trinity Stehno Opinions Editor Arts and Entertainment Trinity Stehno Opinions Editor 'Sully' showcases authentic issues The new movie, 'Sully,' came out on September 9, 2016. When I first saw the trailer of t h i s film I w a s kind of ex- c i t e d about it. It not only had Tom Hanks fea- tured as the lead role, but had a historical e s s c e n c e that made me want to run to the theaters the day it was released. The fact that it also was based on a true story just reeled me in a little bit more. The story had a strange set- ting, that most movies don't have. Tom Hanks plays an airplane pi- lot called Captain Chelsey Sul- lenburger, also known as Sully. Sully was flying a plane full of approximately 155 passengers aboard from New York City, to North Carolina, but the flight was almost immdately inter- rupted. After only a few minutes of flying, a large flock of geese came towards the plane, disabling both and now he's being in- vestigated and in- terrogated? Like come on, let's be s e r i o u s now. In- s t e a d of having his job hang by a thread, he should be rewarded. The NTSB were the people who questioned Sully's actions and deemed the flight as a pilot error and made Sully out to be unefficient at his job. Sully then sought out to change the NTSB's mind. I didn't think Sully should have to even explain himself or his reasons for landing the plane like he did. He was in control of the plae whereas the NTSB was not. To prove that he was right, Sully displayed different simulations to try to convince the NTSB that his actions were correct, and to save his job as a pilot. This story gives a little bit of inspiration to anyone who has been told they were wrong and kept fighting until they proved that they were right. 'Wattpad' thrills 'The Red fascinates Q u e e n ' An underrated book series called The Red Queen hits the bookshelves as it begins to sweep through the reader world. It has tragedy with death's so shocking it'll take a minute to cry. It has plot twists at every unexpected moment, never knowing who is who. Most of all, the love affairs. As in every book, there's a love triangle, but you never know who to root for because they're equally appealing. With this book, there is never a dull moment. The character development is one of the best qualities in the book. Mare Barrow, the main character, is a poor girl facing responsibilities no child should face, but everything changes in the tides of war. As she experiences heartbreak and betrayal, she picks herself up, becoming a strong female role- model who is walking on thin ice. Her whole world gets flipped upside down, but she refuses to be a pawn, disguising herself as one, but is secretly the Queen guarding her King. The book is vivid in its descriptions of war, perfectly describing the land between the kingdoms as a desolate no-man's- land, a hell for soldiers. Aveyard, the author, perfectly entwines the acts of war into the threads of fate that calculate Mare's every move, whether it be her relationships or the life changing decisions she's faced with. Cal, the prince of her kingdom, is a fiery soul whose recklessness sparks her own. The two together is what makes the book so intense. Maven, Cal's younger brother, is the intelligent, sensitive boy that she likes, but doesn't compare to the wildness of his older brother. She becomes torn as she realizes she can't have both. Overall, Mare is a source of power, a beacon of light, and her significance in the end for the campaign that is about to begin is beautifully created. Aveyard did a wonderful job in creating these characters and the relevance to the chaos that is about to unfold. The Red Queen was definitely worth the read. The book is definitely a seat- gripper, a must read! There's a newer game called 100 Balls that is a simple but addicting app on the market for iOS, android, and play store formats. The game allows you to test your reaction in a single tap with a realistic physics engine. You tap on screen to open the container of 100 balls, and it lets balls fall into your cup. Your purpose is to fill the moving cups with the falling balls from the original container. Filled cups will return balls to the container, so the pot can continue to dispense balls into your cups, and you can gain more points. Empty cups will you're only filling solo-cups with tiny ping-pong like balls, it's still really enjoyable. It doesn't require much strategy other than just knowing how quickly the balls fall, and how fast the cups move towards the dispensary hole, but that comes with experience of playing. and so long as those balls are that color; they continue to give you more points than average balls. The longer you remain in the game, the more points you receive, and the higher level you reach. The game not only is extremely entertaining, but it's not hard either. The app allows you to kill time while you are also having fun; my personal high score is level twenty- three with 1,466 points earned. I've tried time and time again to beat it, but it's pretty hard. The only reason I got that high of a score was because I was mindlessly playing to get away from my brother. 100 Balls is frankly pretty addicting; while eleven balls inside the green cup; you'd get twenty-two points from that cup. There's also a special ball that has a black dot in the middle of it, and that ball will multiply all your balls by ten. It's a special ball that you have two of, and it changed the color of the ping- pong balls that land in your cup, be unhooked from the moving chain, and they'll be disposed of, so you can't use them until you restart the game again. The game ends when all balls or cups are lost. Each level speeds up the cups, which means you have to tap on the screen a little bit sooner before the cup reaches the dispenser holes of the container each level to fill the cups. On higher levels cups will change color; the cups change into colors like red, blue, purple, and green. Colored cups produces higher value colored balls; each colored cup has a certain value that they multiply by. For example, let's say the green cup multiplies by two, and you got ed to become suspicious with the entire situation. An investigation was created and people believed that only one engine had failed, instead of two, and t h a t the air- plane could actually last until it ar- rived onland. They said that the emergency landing in the water was unecessary. My initial opin- ion of this was confused. This guy just saved a bunch of peoples lives of the plane's engines and send- ing the entireflight down. With fast impulses, Sully tries to save the flight by landing in the Hudson, and he becomes successful for saving the lives of multiple and hundreds of people. After everybody aboard arived onland safely, people start- Great game, and I 10/10 reccomend. I'd only reccomend it if you haven't seen Grease. Kubo and the two strings is a fantastic movie set in ancient japan. Then he 'Kubo and the Two Strings' keeps an audience begins a daring adventure, and I will leave the rest up for you to watch. I loved this movie, with its melancholic undertones, brilliantly designed characters, and scenery that absolutely blew my mind. It's no wonder the movie made over 5 times what it was expected to earn. The story is more than interesting and leaves something for anyone of any age to enjoy. It's stop motion animation felt fresh and boy was it gorgeous, I couldn't help but gawk and stare in amazement at most scenes. While the original Grease and Grease 2 are only four years apart, the cast members completely changed. I don't see why they had to change when the stars of the Grease would have looked exactly the same for the filming of the second one. Part of the appeal to sequels of movies is that you get to see the story carry on with the characters you originally fell in love with. The producers just copied the original Grease film with new characters and different songs. Some of the song son the second Grease were "Back to School Again," "Cool Rider," "Score Tonight," and more, but none of those songs were catchy in the least of ways. Another appeal to musical films is a catchy song or two. Or three. The original Grease was good because it was exactly that, original. There's still the Pink Ladies Gang at Rydell High School, but it's now led by Stephanie Zinone (played by Michelle Pfeiffer). While, Pfeiffer wasn't bad at doing her job, she wasn't any Stockard Channing (the original leader of the Pink Ladies, Betty Rizzo). It's a romantic movie just like Grease, but when you see "Grease 2," you expect more than this. You expect exactly what a sequel entails, and that's the fact that the same characters are included or at least it's comparable to the first movie in the series. Grease knocked it out of the park, and, I'll admit, that set a bit of a high bar for Grease 2, but the producers and directors didn't even begin to match the the award-winning quality of the first movie. It had a fifteen million dollar budget. Grease Two didn't even have big-name actors and actresses, they pulled a bunch of nobodies out of the abyss, and gave them roles in a movie with high expectations.
