The pub- lic is invited to join this fun annual event and help clean up the river while fl oating a beautiful fi ve-mile stretch of its waters in Cald- well and Burke counties. The fl oat begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until approximately 4:30 p.m. Thanks to the success of past Erase the Waste outings on the lower portion of the riv- er, this year the cleanup will take place further upstream where the Johns River and Wilson Creek meet. Canoes and assistance for the event are provided by CBS Sports and the N.C. Wildlife Resource Commis- sion. RSVP is required for this free outing.
