No postcards this week at Sweet's Column, Winslow, IN 47598. Still looking in the ol' mailbox to go on a trip with you all. Winslow and, I guess, your area of this big world has been cold or should I say frigid weather in the 20s but with the wind gusting up it feels like in the teens or be- low 0. Snow flurries were around Friday but only for a minute, but on Sunday, which was Valentine's Day, it sleeted with snow flurries, and the temp was 20 degrees but felt like four above with more snow, sleet and ran by Monday, so they say. Winter isn't over yet, we still have 33 more days be- fore spring begins, and I guess I'm a bit like every- one else when I say I can't wait until spring comes. Winter has been cold, yes really cold, but the mois- ture has been on the weak- er side, not too many days to build a snowman, but like I said, winter isn't over yet. The Patoka River is up but not overflowing. The animals are only out to find food and they are staying in- side also. How was your Valentine's Day? Ours was grand! We stayed inside and watched movies after the column was written. We al- so helped each other fix din- ner and enjoyed each other's company. No gifts between us, but the din- ner and some of those heart shaped candies with the sayings on them. We hope you received what you expected on your Valentine's Day from your sweetie, but most of all we hope you spent it together. On Thursday, we went to see Kyana where we got to see the animals at Mesker Zoo. But the animals were inside because it was real cold outside and they want- ed to stay warm also. We had a great time at the Zoo, but the walk up and down the hill took the hill, took it out of us, especially that last hill. On Friday, Norm and I saw Kyana again and we gave her a Valentine candy of chocolates and some heart shaped candies and a card. Saturday, Laura and Daniel took Kyana to C-Moe which is the Children's Museum in Evansville. I got turned around in some parts of Evansville so when we get in the down- town part my directions get turned around, but then I see a landmark and I know where I'm at. One day we took a side road out of Evans- ville that we were never on and we got lucky because we ended up in Daylight, and we knew where we were. It's al- ways nice to take a road we don't know where it leads and see the sights where other stars live. The note about miss- ing and found animals that Shannon Nelson has was put in wrong – it should have read and looked up on the web as WinslowIndiana- MissingAnimals. Irene's Room at Winslow Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall is needing non-perishable food dona- tions, and if you could help in anyway, contact Amanda Truitt at 812-582-3712. The Winslow Circle K has stacks of bundles sit- ting in the parking lot, so as you go in or out of the Cir- cle K, be careful. There are other places on Main Street that has blind spots at times like the Winslow Ball Field and North Street when cars are parked on Main, just to name a few. It's that time to dim the lights on this week's ram- bling, but keep an eye on family and friends and do what you can for them even if it is listening. Stop for school buses, slow own and don't be in such a hur- ry, keep warm on these cold, cold days and always smile, wave and say "hi" to every- one you see this week. landscape.
