I did for a few peaks during the first three rounds and then the early going and the fin- ish of the final round. I watched the early part of the final round until Phil Mickelson had his gaffe on the par three No. 4 and lost three strokes to par. I thought it was grand he was able to come back and fin- ish at eight under, regaining those three strokes and tie for third with Westwood, Kuchar and Hanson. How- ever, that one problem hole kept Mickelson out of first place and possibly another Masters jacket. He made a remarkable recovery, but it was not quite enough to fin- ish at 10 under with Louis Oosthuizen and Bubba Watson. For the American to win on the second playoff hole was outstanding. He is ab- solutely one of those guys you like to cheer for in the game of professional golf. First, Bubba is definitely an American name. Second he is self taught. Third he is a real nice guy and a very family oriented and God oriented man. He gives us old guys a lot to cheer for and he will be a very popu- lar American player on the tour. I do not know if he will win another major, but we all have another American to cheer for. Obviously, I am a Mick- elson fan and like to watch the lefty. Sports Lady Chargers second at Boonville Finish second at Boonville last week, the Pike Central Lady Chargers bounced back to finish second in the Boonville Southern Slam losing to the Boonville Lady Pioneers in the finals. The week began with a game against the Tecum- seh Lady Braves to open the Pocket Athletic Conference season at home on April 10. Despite a pitching gem by Hallie Richardson, the Lady Chargers came up on the short end of a 1-0 score. Richardson allowed only After a couple of losses By Mike Johansen the second with a double by Summers with Oxley coming in to run. Oxley ad- vanced to third on a ground out play and scored on a single by Duncan. The Lady Braves had a two out single in the third and singles in the fifth and seventh innings, but the runners were all left stand- ing on base. Ruppel advanced on a single by Abbott, stole third and scored on an error. The final two runs scored Team opened up with a 15-4 win over the Southridge Lady raiders on April 10. The Lady Chargers I will tell you I am not a detractor and not a fan of Tiger Woods, I liked him alright when he was win- ning everything including all those majors. However, when his personal life went the wrong way so did his golf life and I am not sure he will ever recover. Tiger Woods fans had hope after his win two weeks before the Masters in the Arnold Palmer Tournament. He even showed a little promise in the Masters and then his game went back to being bad for a Pro. Now, I will say this, if I could play like he is playing now and shoot those scores, I would be very happy. But, that does not bode well for Pro golfers and how much Woods has lost with his game. He is not consistent and with his reverting to cuss words and throwing clubs as he did on television on Saturday and Sunday. A Pro golfer should never be seen throwing clubs and he should be fined for doing so on television. His poor sportsman ship with those acts is not excusable and I believe there should be penalties for such behavior in front of millions. I hope he should not revert to such juvenile behavior again. ******* The Major league baseball season is here and that gives me something to do when there is not a good show or movie on TV, which is quite often. You can read, or be on the computer and still keep up with the action of a pro baseball game and I do enjoy this pro sport most of the time. I am a Cardinals and Diamondbacks fans. I do have to say that there are some Yankee fans in our office, poor boys! Of course, the Yankees have come back from 1-4 to 5-4 so far this season and that is hard to argue with. A tough run early in the season can be made up. But a month or so down the road if a team is under .500 it will be hard for them to be among the top teams contending for the playoffs. Not impossible, but very hard. Hey, even the Washington Nationals are on top early this season so we may have some surprises. Baseball gives us sports fans something to watch several days of the week. It probably is not as exciting as football or college basketball, but I do like baseball and watching Continued on Page B4 opened play scoring eight runs in the opening inning to take control of the game early.
