"Then Jesus told his dis- ciples a parable to show them that they should al- ways pray and not give up" (Luke 18:1). Prayer is not overcom- ing God's reluctance, but laying hold of His willing- ness (Martin Luther). We have many on our prayer list for which we are not ceasing to pray. Those battling cancer or other se- rious problems, those go- ing through the healing process, those who are traveling and in need of traveling mercies. We may not know all the problems people face, but we serve a mighty God who does, and is willing to hear and answer our prayers and He gives us his peace in the process. We thank Him for His mercies, His answers and most of all His love. We invite you to worship with us. Myers, Pastor LIVING FAITH CHURCH INTERNATIONAL 281 S. 12th St. Petersburg Formerly the Adult Education Building, next to soccer field, behind OPG Sunday worship 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Sunday youth service 6 p.m. "How is it then, breth- ren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edifi- cation. If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to him- self and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. But if anything is revealed to an- other who sits by, let the first keep silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be en- couraged. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the church- es of the saints" (I Corinthi- ans 14:26 -40). I love this passage of scrip- ture because it speaks of the body doing ministry togeth- er. You know whenever you are going to be involved in something, you get your- self prepared for it. It's in- teresting. I think many peo- ple treat Sunday morning church as an afterthought. Rather than..."Oh yeah, it's Sunday...." When we come together as a body, there should be an expectation. "Oh, I'm involved in some- thing powerful on Sunday and I am expecting great downloads from heaven." No matter what church you are a part of, gather with expectation and see a power- ful move of the Spirit in your midst! Upcoming Events: Thursday, Nov. 12: Out of the Box Ladies' Ministries presents Ladies Night. The wretch proposed and the king agreed to call off the ex- ecution if, within a year, the condemned could teach the King's horse to fly. "Why postpone the inev- itable? " a friend asked the wretch. "It's not inevitable, he re- plied. The odds are four to one in my favor: (1) The King might die; (2) I might die; (3) The horse might die; (4) I might teach the horse to fly." Jesus said, "All things are possible to him that be- lieves." A person who aims at nothing has a target he can't miss. Set an attainable goal. When you reach it, set anoth- er goal and higher. Personally, if we plan to reach heaven, we need to follow the Savior. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" ( John 14:6). Because He Lives. We give the Lord praise for the new creation that was baptized this past Sunday. To God be the glory. For information, call 812- 354-4424 or 812-582-0240. Denny Wiscaver, Pastor Pam Nutter, Reporter MAIN STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 10th and Main Streets, Petersburg Sunday school 9:15 a.m.; Sunday worship 10 :30 a.m. We have a nursery for chil- dren up to the age of seven and we also have a van route in Petersburg to pick anyone up. Come visit us, our doors are always open to you. Grateful kids Adults aren't the only ones who benefit from counting their blessings. Research shows that thankful kids get better grades, experience less depression and jealousy, and maintain a more positive outlook on life. Experts emphasize that parents must model grati- tude, especially in today's consumer-driven culture. But professor Robert Emmons notes that being thankful usually comes pretty easily for children. "Kids have a nat- ural affinity to gratitude," he says. "They often teach par- ents as much or more about gratitude than the other way around." Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Phone: 812- 354-6844. Boyd Heldring, Pastor Amy Melhiser, Secretary PLEASANT RIDGE G.B. CHURCH Morning worship service 10 :30 a.m. Everyone is always welcome. We want to thank God for His mercy, love and answered prayer. Continue to pray for one another, the unsaved, the prayer list, for all who are trav- eling, for the sick and needy, for the ones in hospitals and nursing homes, for the mili- tary and their families, our President and his family, and all decisions that are made. If you need spiritual help or in- formation, call Dale or Terri at 812-789 -2348. Remember to pray for heal- ing for our divided country, and for protection for our ba- bies, our families, our jobs and our religious freedoms. We want to extend our sym- pathy to anyone who has lost a loved one. Our lives will soon be over, whether we live a short time or for several years, but un- til He takes us home we have a message to tell. How will our children, grandchil- dren, great-grandchildren, and others be saved if no one tells them about Jesus or sets the right example for them? We may think we have a lot of time to win them for Christ, but the devil is influencing and working everyday. Instead of feeling like doom and gloom, we need to re- member that God is there for us and always ready to help us if we truly seek Him. "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee" (Psalm 119:11). Thought: Music is a great way to tell about Jesus and His love. Remember: When a be- lieving person prays...great things happen. Have a great week! Dale Frederick, Pastor Lois K.
