The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, November 4, 2015 C- 3 Church news Continued from page 2 SOMETHING NEWSWORTHY? Give us a call – 812-354-8500 MT. PISGAH GENER AL BAPTIST CHURCH "The Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can- not be uttered" (Romans 8:26). Have you ever faced a situation that was so over- whelming or so confusing you didn't even know how to pray about it? Have you ever been so overcome with grief or burdened by heart- ache you couldn't put your emotions into words, much less pray about them? What a comfort these words should be: "The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us in accor- dance with God's will" (Ro- mans 8:26 -27). Think of it: Even when we don't know how to pray, the Spirit knows our needs, and He brings the deepest cries of our hearts before the throne of God. In ways we will never understand this side of eternity, God the Holy Spirit pleads for us before God the Father. Turn to God in every situ- ation, even when you don't feel like it. The Spirit is in- terceding for you, in accor- dance with God's will. CHURCH Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; this Wednesday will be our monthly business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Remember those on our prayer list, the shut-ins and our lost loved ones. Sometimes our church families inadvertently in- corporate rules and tradi- tions into the Christian life that say Christians must do this and not that – and defi- nitely not that. But we know that nothing is required for salvation but faith in Jesus, whose shed blood paid the price for our sins. We can never fulfill the law and that is why we need a Savior. When we realize what God provided for us through His Son, because of His great love for us, what can we do but accept that gift, thank Him and hum- bly live a life dedicated to His glory. "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ that we would be saved, even as they" (Acts 15:11). Kathy Henderson, Reporter HOUSE OF MERCY Sunday morning ser- vice 10 a.m.; Sunday School classes 11 a.m.; Thursday night 7 p.m. Each month on the 4th Sunday at 2 p.m., Amber Manor nursing home services. So thankful for what God is doing at House Of Mer- cy. We have had an expecta- tion in the past of something good that was going to hap- pen. There was not one that was surprised when God be- gan to move, but it has been overwhelming. Our hearts and eyes are turned to- wards heaven, for it is only God who can do great things and the only one to receive all glory, honor and praise. For He states in His Word, "Not by power, nor by might (man's power and might), but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts." When you put your faith in Him and Him alone, He will show Himself strong. Is He strong in your life? Just ask Him into your heart, and just let go and let God. May you find peace and joy in your life in the week ahead.
