The game at Central Cabarrus was a NC High School Athletic Associa- tion Endowment Game, so for that reason it was decided that it didn't have to be made up. This means the Bulldogs remain 2-0 on the early season and will open conference play this week on the road at Chase. The Crest Chargers Crest didn't have to worry about the weather or a game at all since it was their off week of the season. The Chargers, the defending State 3A Champions, enter this weeks game against Draughn on an 18-game winning streak that goes back to game one of the 2014 season. Friday's game will be played at Syd Bryson Stadium and it's also the fi rst conference match up of the year. The Kings Mountain Mountaineers After a late kickoff and then another delay due to the weather, the Mountaineers still kept their composure and defeated Forestview 35 to 10. Special teams were huge for Kings Mountain, as Kavin Mosely returned the second half kickoff all the way to the end zone after a nearly 70 yard run. To go along with that, Bryan Sand- ers ran 17 yards after picking up a blocked punt for another special teams touchdown. In the backfi eld, J'Air McCluney led Kings Mtn. with 18 carries for 113 yards. The Mountaineers defense also played well - holding Forestview to only 70 yards total offense. This week Kings Mtn. (3-0) returns home to host East Rutherford. The Shelby Golden Lions It was another classic Golden Lions vs. Red Raiders game that went down to the fi nal seconds before Shelby escaped 35-28. At one time South Point led 21-7 in the contest. However, after Shelby captured the lead, it was South Point who had advanced the ball to the Shelby 16-yard line but couldn't connect on a pass in those fi nal seconds. On offense, Shelby Quarterback - Darquez Lee went 20 of 34 for 373 yards, 3 of them touch- downs, and even had a rushing TD. Jwan Sims led the Lions receiving core with 133 yards on only 4 recep- tions. Sims was also big on punt returns, averaging just over 33 yards a run. Dax Hollifi eld was one of many Shelby defenders who turned up the heat, fi nishing with 14 tackles and a half a sack. Shelby at 3-0 enters conference action this Friday as they travel to RS Central.
