C-2 Church Wednesday, August 19, 2015 The Press-Dispatch PAWS pet of the week "I like dogs, big dogs, little dogs, fat dogs, dog- gy dogs, old dogs, puppy dogs. I like dogs. A dog that is barking over the hill, a dog that is dream- ing very still, a dog that is running wherever he will. I like dogs" – Mar- garet Wise Brown. This week, PAWS is featuring a terrific young canine named Tiki, who is a little shy, although she is very much a connoisseur of comfort. She is spend- ing time in the office at PAWS so she can get used to visitors. She loves to lounge on a big comfortable elevated bed as if she is queen of the castle. Tiki has some beagle/ terrier heritage and is approximately two years old and is tri-colored black, brown, white, and weighs about 20 lbs. To adopt this ador- able little gal, call 812- 354-9894. At Sinai, the peo- ple shrank from God and begged Moses to approach him on their behalf. But in Jesus' day, people could hold a conversation with the Son of God; they could touch him and even hurt him. A fter Pentecost, the same flawed disciples who had fled from Jesus' trial became carriers of the Living God. In an act of delegation beyond fath- om, Jesus turned over the kingdom of God to the likes of his disciples – and to us. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Phone: 812- 354-6844. Never again will I admit lack, for "My God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). Never again will I fear, for "God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of self-discipline" (II Timothy 1:7). Never again will I harbor doubt and lack of faith, for "The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear" (Psalm 27:1). Never again will I allow the supremacy of Satan over my life, for "the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (I John 4:4). Never again will I admit defeat, for "God always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fra- grance of the knowledge of Him" (II Corinthians 2:14). Never again will I lack wisdom, for "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him" ( James 1:5). Never again will I be wor- ried and frustrated, "Cast- ing all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (I Peter 5:7). Never again will I be in bondage, for "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom" (II Corinthians 3:17). Bob Shepherd, Reporter MT. OLIVE G.B. CHURCH Hwy. 56, Cato Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and church service 10 :30 a.m. We are grateful for those that were at church this past Sunday and welcome each one back, and ask that you bring a friend. Remember those on our prayer list, the sick and lone- ly, our country, our leaders, military and each other. Bob Strain, Pastor Katherine Burkhart, Re- porter OTWELL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH One great way to help our kids have a successful school year is to worship together weekly. As we get back into our school routine, may we al- so get back to church. If you are wanting to try something new or just ready to get back to the basics, we invite you to worship with us at Otwell United Methodist this Sun- day at 10 a.m. Who do you turn to when you are confused? Our help is in the name of the Lord. This new message series is You Need to be Humble or You May Stumble. We hope to see you then! You may call (812)639 - 0189 for more information about Otwell UMC. Logan McCullough, Pastor PLEASANT RIDGE G.B. CHURCH Morning worship service 10 :30 a.m. Everyone is al- ways welcome. We want to thank God for His mercy, love and an- swered prayer. Continue to pray for one another, the unsaved, the prayer list, for all who are traveling, for the sick and needy, for the ones in hospitals and nurs- ing homes, for the military and their families, our Pres- ident and his family and all decisions that are made. If you need spiritual help or in- formation, call Dale or Terri at 812-789 -2348. Remember to pray for our divided country and pray for protection for our babies, our families, our jobs and our religious freedoms. We want to extend our sympathy to anyone who has lost a loved one. Our heavenly Father has commanded certain things to be done by His children. One of the common fail- ings of all is to become a lit- tle careless, indifferent and discouraged. To obey the commands of God and to be diligent in observing them when all seem to have forsaken God calls for strength and courage, especially when clouds of doubt arise. We need to remember that we are not alone. God's Son, Jesus Christ, has promised His grace will be sufficient. They who trust God need have no fear. God gives us the opportu- nity, but He doesn't make us accept it. To be God's chil- dren we just need to: • Accept Him. • Repent of our sins. • Confess Him as Lord and Savior and to walk in obedience. Thought: You can't get lost on a straight track. Have a great week. Dale Frederick, Pastor Lois K. A Sure Cure Three Pastors were hav- ing lunch in a diner. One said, "You know, since sum- mer started I've been hav- ing trouble with bats in my loft and attic at church. I've tried everything–noise, spray, cats–nothing seems to scare them away." Another said "Yes, me too. I've got hundreds living in my belfry and in the nar- thex attic. I've even had the place fumigated, and they won't go away." The third said, "I baptized all mine, and made them members of the church— haven't seen one back since." "And Peter said to them, 'Repent and be baptized ev- ery one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the for- giveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit'" (Acts 2:38 ESV ).
