Justin Harper The Hank Cole Band started over 15 years ago after singer/songwriter Hayne Coleman directed his creative energies toward his original WWII aviation art and original etchings. During that time, Hayne still wrote music and used Glenn Drake as a sounding board. After a Hayne created a block print of an old guitar player (see HC- BOriginalMusic.jpg), the mispronunciation of his name lead to "Hank Cole," thus the band was formed. They play a style of music J. Justin Harper dubbed, Americana. Cole- man says it is "...The name given to a homogeneous form of music that com- bines pretty much all types of music that have devel- oped in the USA over the years. It includes home- grown music such as folk, country, blues, R&B, soul, jazz, rock, southern rock etc. It's thrown into a pot, stirred and melted together and the end result comes out "Americana." I might be wrong but that's what it is to me." When asked, "What advice would you give to young people who want to make music?" Coleman responds, "Lots of practice." If you would like to see a video of The Hank Cole Band and read more about Hayne Coleman's interview check it out online at: www.shelbyinfo.com/music.
