FISHING REPORT FISHING REPOR Kosa The retirees, like me, took Thanksgiving week off. The last event was on Lake Wylie and was won by David O'Shields and Doug Sparrow with 8.03. They also had the big bass of the event with a 3.50 largemouth. Mack Wyatt and Johnny Christianberry had 6.1 and rounding out the top three was John Black, fishing solo, he had 4.8. Even though Lake Wylie was the last event, the week off means it is back to Wylie with an 8am start and a 2pm weigh-in. Bass Casters The Bass Casters will fish their December event on Lake Wateree this coming week- end. Wateree can be very good or extremely tough this time of year. CCBC The Cleveland County Bass Club fished Stumpy Pond recently with John Rankin taking the win. Rankin had 12.68 and he anchored that with a 3.50 largemouth, that was big fish of the day. Jason Price had 10.32 and took second over Ronnie Humphries, who had 9.06. Roger Beaver had 8.28 and settled in fourth with Tammy Melton rounding out the top five with 7.24. The Cleveland County Bass Club also fish Lake Wateree for their December tournament, that was to be decided after my press time. Sometimes it lingers seemingly all day making it diffi cult to see especially when hunting with fi rearms. And then there's the drive. Just seeing each turn can sometimes be almost impossible without some type of marker. This is the case at one of my hunting locations. Over the years I have marked a par- ticular turn by a light. While driving down the road, this light creates an illusion that it is in the middle of the road. If there's no fog, I can see it for at least a mile away. I simply drive to it and then turn at it. It makes everything easy. When there's a thick fog, this makes it more diffi cult be- cause now I have to be close to it before I see it. And I have passed it up a few times. The key is slowing down, locating the light and heading in the right direc- tion. Sometimes my life seems like I'm living in a fog. Rarely do my directions seem clear and knowing which way to go is diffi cult to discern. The problem is, just like my attempt in hunting, I some- times forget to slow down and locate the markers that give me the help I need. What they don't know is bucks still seek ready-to-breed does for weeks after the peak rut. Does that weren't bred during the peak will come into estrus about a month later and bucks will be looking for them. During the post rut, focus on food because that's where the does will be. Dominant bucks are extremely wary and often nocturnal so get in your stand an hour before first light. In the afternoon, stay in your stand until the last second of shooting hours. The truth is when these conditions show up in my life, I cannot continue to travel as I have been. I must make the necessary adjustments in order that I don't miss the turn I need to take. The light that marks my way is still there. He is as sure and stable as any marker we might have in our life. But sometimes we must ap- proach slowly, linger longer, and move toward our change of direction with a greater focus on the turn. Are you living in a fog right now? Have you uttered complaints about the seeming lack of God's guidance? Are you getting ready to make a move even though you are unsure about the direc- tion? Maybe you need to slow down. The light is still there, but in the fog you'll have to draw a little closer before you see it.
