The Dialogue We want to hear from you. Visit vegasinc.com to post comments to stories. Things are tough all over the country. When things do start to improve, Vegas will take the longest to bounce back. — Det_Munch On Rick Velotta's Nov. 14 VEGAS INC update on the DesertXpress high- speed rail project linking Las Vegas with Victorville, Calif. ("DesertXpress moving ahead on contracts"): Pick 'Em DesertXpress is the most stupid idea On Conor Shine's Nov. 7 VEGAS INC cover story about Las Vegas high-tech company Switch ("Vegas' hidden tech giant"): Switch has great founders and they treat their employees very, very well. The service to their clients is the best in this country. Many would be surprised to know just how big this has become in the Vegas valley. They had a great idea and ran with it, and many are glad they did. Great job guys, keep it up! — vegaslee On Steve Green's Nov. 14 VEGAS INC story on reports by the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors and SalesTraq about home values in the Las Vegas valley ("Home prices still falling, Realtors say"); Meanwhile, CNN Money today posted a positive article about Las Vegas real estate, and how the flood of all-cash investor money and the (slight) drop in unemployment are the first signs of a market poised for rebound. Interesting. — James_P_Reza | 21 NOVEMBER 2011 | On Steve Green's Nov. 3 vegasinc.com update on Righthaven ("Righthaven may contest creditor's writ to seize its assets"): Steve, you could turn this into a book, a play, a movie, or maybe a whole TV I have heard in a long time. First of all, Victorville? It's in the middle of the desert, so you have to drive through all the Los Angeles traffic to even get there. Then (you'll have to) park your car, pay $50 for the fare, wait for the train, probably rent another car when you get to Vegas or pay exhorbitant taxi fares, then repeat the process when returning. Imagine doing that with children. You might as well just continue on the freeway and drive. It will probably go bankrupt. No wonder the Wall Street protestors are angry. Our system is really broken and just pays off political favors. — term2 It is one heck of a story of avarice temporarily running amok in a fit of self-righteous tone-deaf self-aggrandizement. — lericgoodman (Leric Goodman) Power Lunch The Numbers inc.com On Delen Goldberg's Nov. 3 vegasinc. com story on a job fair for the Public House restaurant ("New restaurant at the Venetian hiring 150 workers"): Two new restaurants both on the strip, both named "Public House" and both sound similar in what they serve, etc. Talk about a recipe for massive consumer confusion. If the one opening at Luxor is part of an existing chain, how the heck did the one at the Venetian get rights to the same name? I trust 90 percent of visitors will assume it's two locations of the same restaurant ... bad. — plattworx (Richard Welch) Let's see, 150,000 unemployed in Clark County. One new restaurant hires 150. I have the solution: We need to open 1,000 new restaurants. Problem solved. —zackiebinkes (Zackie Binkes) Response to the 20 Answers question at vegasinc.com ("What is the most promising business sector for diversifying Las Vegas' economy?") Renewable energy manufacturing jobs with an emphasis on solar. This will help with current unemployment and will also bring highly paid engineers and others to this community. Finally it will support UNLV's current degree programs in this sector. — Bob Anderson 5 Buy high Sell low VEGASINCmag 217 MPH YOUR AD HERE Executive class Read this!
