It always amazes me how the world pauses for this day. It is also a time to refl ect and prepare for the hopes of a New Year. Peace is defi ned as the absence of hostility resulting in a time of serenity. Though we may experience a certain amount of peace in this tumultuous world, do we have real peace in our hearts? No doubt for many, the times of jubilant celebration will be accompanied by moments of missing those who have departed this world. There will be empty seats around the feasting table which used to be fi lled with moms, dads, grandparents, children, brothers, sisters and those whom we loved dearly. One of the most important truths of Christmas is that Jesus Christ came not only to bring peace to the world, but also to bring peace to the restlessness and wantonness of the human heart. The answer to the emotional pain and emptiness we feel in our hearts is to invite Christ to fi ll it with His love, joy and peace. When Mary, the mother of Jesus, held this little one for the fi rst time she pondered in her heart about the blessedness of this new born child. Her heart was fi lled with the peace of God. Our hearts too can be at rest, even in the midst of sorrow, when we understand as she did that He is "Immanuel", which means "God With Us." He is truly the Prince of Peace!
