Shelby Middle School seventh grade students, (l to r) Madison Ledbetter and Mikaela Mitchell paint the huge rock at the schools entrance white. The rock will be named: "The Spirit Rock" and will include special school messages. – M.A. Andrews www.cityofshelby.com/parks Saturday, Sunday & Monday New Shelby Middle School Open As workmen continued to bring in supplies, lay carpet, add fi nish- ing touches with an intense pace, the digital sign outside on the 53 acre campus said it all. The new Shelby Middle School opened today (Thursday) with 450 seventh and eighth graders. The middle school program no longer includes sixth grade. – M.A. Andrews Pictured above in the new Shelby Middle School auditorium are Cleveland County School Superintendent, Dr. Bruce Boyles and Prin- cipal, Tim Quattlebaum. The two were in the process of checking out the new facility to make sure that everything was in place for opening day. Dr. Boyles said that he knows of no other middle school in the country that is equal to the new state of the art Shelby Middle School. When asked about the future of the old Shelby Middle School/Shelby High School facility, Dr. Boyles said that it would become a central offi ce for the school system as well as the location for "Turning Point Academy". All present school facilities will be consolidated to that one location. – M.A. Andrews TICS shelbyinfo.com Wood Turning, Pottery, Nursery Plants, Jewelry, Quilts and More Children's Activities: Free Admission • Free Parking Free Wine Tastings • Rain or Shine John Beam Road • Vale, NC www.woodmillwinery.com 704-276-9911 Back To School...County Wide!
