They all did a great job representing our local games and we are especially proud of the Golden Girls Softball Team (members of our Silver Belles team were a part of the team as well) who placed 5th in the national tournament. Way to go ladies!!! They were impressive and did a marvelous job against some extremely tough competition. Cleveland County Senior Games as well as the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center are very proud of all who participated in the National Senior Games. State Senior Games Finals Practice Sessions For senior athletes participating in the State Senior Games Finals in Raleigh, September 26-Oct. 2, 2011, the Council on Aging/Senior Center has scheduled several practice sessions to help sharpen your skills prior to the State Finals Competitions. Please take advantage of this opportunity to prepare so you can do your best and bring home some medals. Good Luck! The Senior Center will be taking a van to State Finals and has a number of rooms blocked for Cleveland County Senior athletes at Comfort Suites in Cary. If you wish to ride the van or need a room, please contact Lisa 704-482-3488 by Sept. 1, 2011. The room rate for Comfort Suites is $74 per night (includes free full breakfast), plus tax. The hotel has an indoor pool, whirlpool/hot tub, and each room has a microwave and refrigerator. The approximate cost to ride the van will be $30 per person. So I just want to say thank you so much for being here as the Senior Center goes through some changes. We need your help more and more. Some of the areas we will need help with are; Help pack meals in the mornings from 7am – 9am. Receptionist – Help greet people and answer the phone at the front desk. I will be having a volunteer meeting August 3rd , 2011 at 1:00, please come and join us as we go over the upcoming events at the Senior Center.
