Peters- burg Senior Citizens meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednes- day and Friday in the court- house basement. No postcards, but we did receive a note from a star with a birthday announce- ment. I'll tell you about that next week. Send postcards or notes to Sweets Column, Winslow, IN 47598. The town workers were busy with their bush hog, mowers and trimmers at Riverside Park for two days getting ready for the flea market. All of us stars appreciate the work that was done. The shelter house was in need of a broom, rake and shovel, so Norm and I spruced up the area be- fore we, as Lions, set up our equipment for serving breakfast and lunch at the flea market. We have seen some trash not in trash cans. So, if you use the park, will you pick up after your- selves and keep this area a nice place for other stars to enjoy the scenery also? Last Saturday was the Riverside flea market spon- sored by Susan Craig and Lisa Poehlein, who gave back to the community the admission fee of $1 per person. There were so ma- ny vendors, they were set up in a double row by the highway, then in a single row along the Patoka Riv- er side. I think this was the biggest so far. Vendors were from the Winslow area, plus Illinois, Kentucky and Dale. We hope they come back again July 19. This was Norm's last event. Many who know what he has done gave him a big hug, for if it wasn't for his help, it wouldn't have gotten done. On Saturday, Norm and I, and Vernon Arnold, along with many other stars, almost filled the en- tire Trading Post Restau- rant to join in the Jamboree and picnic, which was giv- en in appreciation by Tom and Happy, and staff. Var- ious types of music were presented. Sandwiches, potato salad and slaw were served. The time, energy and services Tom and Hap- py have shown this com- munity for many years is greatly appreciated. Saturday was also the first day of summer and we are in the 90 degree weath- er now. We will have to see what is in store for Win- slow's summer weather. Our last rain was Friday and early Saturday morn- ing, but the Winslow ar- ea got less than south of town, and Arthur and Oak- land City, which left puddles along the roadway. The cabin is almost mor- tared on the inside, then we start on the outside, which has the metal lathe on the north end outside and that might be Monday. Greg and Lisa Poehlein stopped to check it out. This was the first time Lisa had seen the cabin, but Greg has stopped by different times since Norm first started building the cabin by hand. No ma- chine tools—just Norm's arms and leg muscles. They also signed the door and there are more than 35 names. There is still lots of room for more signatures who come to see the cab- in. Lisa and Greg live in a log cabin. The lights are about to dim on this week, but keep an eye on family and friends, especially with the heat. Make sure they are cool. Slow down and save a life or an animal; look out for the kids at play and al- ways smile, wave and say "hi" to everyone this week. Yea, summer!
