Events coming up in Win- slow and the surrounding ar- eas are: Winslow Senior Cit- izens meet on Monday and Tuesday at the Communi- ty Center. Feb. 14—Na- tional Organ Donor Day Feb. 14—Val- entine's Day— A day of ro- mance for some to propose mar- riage, get mar- ried or tell someone of your intentions for them. Kids love to give and receive cards from their schoolmates and teachers, and then presents of all sorts are given from roses to chocolates to the more expensive gifts. This year try to give a card made by you to your loved one. Feb. 17—President's Day No postcards this week. Are you all staying warm? Snow, sleet and more snow with low temps, all week in the single digits and teens. Sunday it began to melt a little, so soon it will not be slick to walk on, instead of walking on a mound of ice. The kids have been out of school for some of the days, but that is alright because all the streets were icy all week anyhow. We want our kids safe and not in a ditch or pit, and it is just too cold for the kids to wait on the bus. How many snowmen have you seen this winter? I have seen two this winter. One was in Winslow and the oth- er one in Campbelltown. Growing up, us kids got out and made snowmen and sometimes igloos and forts, then we had to come in for hot cocoa, and to get warm. How many remember the good ole times? Don't forget the Pike County Leo Club is selling roses which can be picked up at The Trading Post. Plus they also have stuffed animals. Girl Scout cookies will be delivered in February. As the lights begin to dim this week, we hope you all stay as warm as possi- ble. Check on your family and friends and neighbors to see if they are alright or if they need your help. Stay safe and slow down and as I always say smile, wave, and say "hi" to everyone you see this week.
