Harris Drive, off of Fallston Rd) on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. There will be many bargains to be found plus those famous ham biscuits. Persons wishing to purchase bulk orders of ham biscuits (3+) should call Mary Hamrick at 704-482-3488 by Feb. 9th. Don’t delay; place your order as soon as possible because those ham biscuits go fast. Ham and plain biscuits will be available for breakfast, lunch and dinner as long as the supply lasts. Biscuit takeout orders may be made in advance, by calling Mary Hamrick, 704- 482-3488. Take this opportunity to treat your friends or employees to a special treat for an early Valentine celebration. Ham biscuits may be picked up as early as 7:30 am if ordered in advance. Deadline to order ham biscuits is Feb. 9, 2011. Hot dogs will also be available for lunch both days; hot dog plates will include slaw, baked beans and potato chips. Donations for the Flea Market are greatly appreciated by the Senior Center. If you would like to make a donation, please call the Senior Center, 704-482-3488, in advance, so your donation can be properly documented and stored. We are unable to accept clothing. Please donate clothing and shoes to U.A. Thrift on South Lafayette Street in the name of the Council on Aging/Senior Center. Don’t forget the wonderful Flea Market Raffle. The Senior Center will be raffling off a basket full of treasures valued at $100 as well as a porcelain doll and tickets are $1 each for a chance to win either prize. A homemade sweetheart cake will also be raffled off during the Flea Market. Tickets for the cake are 50¢ each or 3 for $1.00. Drawing for the raffles will take place at 3:00 pm on February 11th . Senior Games and SilverArts participants, as well any interested persons in Cleveland County are invited to join us at the Neal Senior Center on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 for our annual Senior Games/ SilverArts Kickoff. Beginning at 4:00 pm, the Kickoff will conclude with a light meal of vegetable soup, sandwiches, cornbread and beverage. Door prizes, including Free Senior Games and SilverArts Registration, will be given away. Attendees will also be able to participate in some games and activi- ties to help prepare for the competition ahead. SilverArts will be held, March 14-19, 2011 at the Council on Aging/Senior Center and Senior Games will begin at Gardner-Webb University and the Senior Center, April 11-15th. During the Kickoff we will also go over some changes regarding registration, fees and other changes that all Senior Games and SilverArts participants need to be aware of for the 2011 competi- tions, recognitions of State Finals medalists and as well as a special guest speaker, so make plans to attend now by calling Lisa Abernethy, 704-482-3488, to register for the Kickoff. Registration Packets for both SilverArts and Senior Games will be available at the Council on 2011 Cleveland County Senior Games Kickoff Aging/Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Dr, Shelby, NC 28150 and at the Patrick Senior Center, 909 East Kings Street, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. Feel free to pick up your registration packet at either location or at the Kickoff. Practice Sessions will begin in March 2011 to help Senior Games participants prepare for compe- tition in number of events. The dates will be announced at the Kickoff or please see information on practice sessions in the Senior Center’s March newsletter. Remember that the treadmill, bicycle and other fitness equipment in the Senior Center Fitness Room may be used from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday to help you prepare for competition. Celebrate Mardi Gras! Let’s Dance! It’s time to kick Heart Month off in style at the Mardi Gras Dance, February 25, 2011 at the Council on Aging/Senior Center located at 100 T.R. Harris Drive, just off of Fallston Rd in Shelby. The 16th Avenue Band will provide the music, beginning at 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Mardi Gras costumes and masks are always welcome and encouraged at the Senior Center’s Mardi Gras Dance, but are not required. The dance is open to adults, age 55 and older. Cost-$5.00 per person.
