All interested persons; whether you’re a returning participant in either or both competitions as well as persons wanting to know what all the fuss about the Senior Games and SilverArts is should make plans to attend. Join us at the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center (100 T.R. Harris Dr, Shelby) for a couple of hours of fun, refreshments, games and information regarding the 2011 Senior Games and/ or SilverArts competitions. 2011 marks the 26th Anniversary of Senior Games in Cleveland County. There are several changes in the entry forms for 2011, so you need to save the date, Feb. 17, 2011 from 4 - 6 pm, to come and take part in this exciting event to be held at the Neal Senior Center, 100 TR Harris Dr, Shelby, NC. Cleveland County Senior Games is a project of the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center and the Patrick Senior Center in Kings Mountain. Events are held at Gardner-Webb University, Neal Senior Center, Shelby City Park, Crest High School, Kings Mountain High School, Challenger III and River Bend Golf Course. Please call the Center at 704-482-3488 to reserve your seat if you plan to attend by February 10, 2011. Don’t forget our motto, “Fitness and Arts for the FUN of it! 2011 Tax Preparation Time The Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center through the AARP will once again provide free, income tax preparation service at the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center (100 T.R. Harris Dr., Shelby, NC) beginning Thursday, February 3, 2011. Tax preparation will be provided on Thursday and Fridays, through April 15, 2011. Emphasis will be placed on those with low to middle income levels, and/or 60 years of age or older. You do not have to be a member of AARP. Everyone is invited to attend. Please bring your favorite dish and join in all the fun. If you are not a cook, feel free to contribute by bringing something purchased at the grocery store or local restaurant. To reserve a seat and attend the luncheon, please contact the Senior Center (704-482- 3488) at least one week prior to the scheduled lunch(es) you plan to attend. Covered Dish Luncheon Rules: Everyone must bring something to share unless you are a first time visitor. No takeouts will be allowed. Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, “The Last Song” follows Ronnie and her estranged father as he tries to restore the loving relationship they once had. But reconnecting with his rebellious daughter isn’t easy, so he chooses the one thing they still have in common -- music. (This movie was rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America for thematic material, some violence, sensuality and mild language.) Enjoy the movie at no charge if you sing a little ditty at the box office or watch the movie at a nomi- nal charge of $1.
